this is how they return them (or you have to go get them as they also manage to lock the keys in it aswell..)

oh, and the person i lent it to.. ..mother lol

payback from when i reversed her 6 into the brickwall coming out of the garage ($2200 worth of damage)

Dont think this will be going through insurance as the excess for her on my premium is $550 and my rating goes up and my premium also goes up 5%..

New bumper from work @ trade price $440 around $200 to paint and fit (mates rates) and the splitter, well, this will be the 4th time it will be re-sprayed..

all will be good when its fixed (coz ill finally get rid of the crease in my bumper by getting a new one).. just another inconvienience..

Indeed, I second your notion that we shouldn't lend our cars to others, unless they're a really REALLY good friend and/or you know they will take all due care.

I lent my last car, which was a rather nice KH Verada xi, to a "friend" while he was undergoing Uni exams, so that he wouldn't have to waste time with public transport when he needed to be studying.

Anyhow, to cut a long story very short, in the couple of weeks he had it, the car became covered with a horribly rust-coloured tree sap I spent ages trying to get off (and it never fully came off either). It did not occur to him to park somewhere else, or at least wipe the car down, or even RING me to come down and wash it for him.

That's not all : My rear numberplate cover mysteriously went AWOL, and I questioned him about that, to which he adamantly replied that there was never a numberplate cover there in the first place......Funny how he should be so sure, after all it was MY car!

Then the bodily damage : The car picked up a few dents in the doors, as well as a few vertical indentations in the rear bumper where 'someone' has obviously backed into a pole or other object. The front bumper also had a very deep gash (30cm) on the front right corner, from where the parker light is, right to the very end of the bumper. Probably where he has failed to see a low-lying retaining wall or cement kerb, and ran out of clearance.

I did list these 'damaged' items to him, to which he said, "It's an old car, does it really matter?"

Oh, and of course the front tyres had lost a fair bit of tread, but that was the least of my worries! The trip computer also showed a rather high rate of average fuel consumption!!

I mean, for goodness sake, talk about ungratefulness. You ask to borrow someone else's car, make a mess of it, and then try to dodge paying for the consequences by downplaying the fact that you stuffed up.

It's the same as lending others your money. You never know their true character untill they have something of value to you! Good lesson learnt. But still... I choose to have faith in the people close to me. Those close enough to trust with my valuables anyway! :D

I let my gf borrow my car all the time, I know its ok because she is a carefull driver. Also she knows if she scratches my baby, she is going to get a size 12 boot up her bum.

nope, all stocko.. she hit it on the corner of a gutter

So is she gonna pay for it or what?

Mothers are a weird one to ask to pay coz they did put you on the planet....

Yeah, because it was mum, i was still pissed off but couldnt let on that i was.. dad said dont worry about it and it will be fixed because she feels terrible for doing it and yeah..

She is gonna to pay for it though..:)

is it possible to get it welded back to gether, and then a quick re-spray?

Well by the time they weld it/sand it and try and get the crease out of it (where the mouting bracket is) i reckon it would just be easier to get a new bumper ($440) get it painted (ill get it done through work cheap) and then get work to whack it on for me..

Its not worth the rootin around and the bodyworks having to have my car for a few days nor is it worth putting it through insurance.. She'd rather do it that way because it wont affect my insurance rating/policy that way..

The WORST part of that is lending a cd out, you go over to your mates house and you see the cd sitting without a case on a desk face down. Lift it up and it's full of scratches "Oh it was scratched when you leant it to me" . I'm pretty anal when it comes to looking after cds, ALWAYS have them protected.

I lent a CD once for a party, got the case back. Then a few months later I get the CD back with a comment "Sorry, Just found your CD, it was up on the ROOF!!!" :gtfoslap: :gtfoslap: :gtfoslap:

People don't care about things that aren't theirs, its typical in people who inherit money or get it given to them, they end up broke and worse off.
DONT EVER LEND YOUR CAR OUT, haha ive learnt that a long time ago when letting girls on their L's drive

Yeah i do not like the idea of mum driving my car.... The first time she got into it, she tried to take off from a standing stop in 3rd (missed 1st)... The second time, she stalled it starting from a standing stop in reverse... HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Still, i do trust her to drive it BUT we have an agreement... she damages it, she pays for it

As for mates behind the wheel i have seen bad things happen to people when they let mates drive their cars... speeding fines in the mail, cracked bodykits from bottoming out in carparks, .... I don't think I'd let a mate drive unless i had confidence in them being a decent driver :doubt:

AAAAND cds well, i lent a mate a game cd once and got it back in 2 pieces.

Still, its a mate, you can't really say "no" without seeming a complete prick when they ask to borrow a cd or dvd.

What can you do eh.

You learn to be more easy-going, and use your instinct when it comes to who to lend your crap to and who not to... I've never get my stuff messed with. Car only goes to my father, who pays for half the crap on it anyway, and I have a cd-burner... wtf buys cd's nowdays.

But seriously I'm sorry about your car mate, you should have seen all the stuff I did to my mum's car when I was a kid including mods which she was not aware of and I did not know what I was doing:nuts:

My mum died in 1981 when I was 18, I'd love her to come back and wreck my car but it isn't going to happen:cry:

Anyway good luck with everything mate:)

Even the wifey dont like driving it cause shes afraid of hurting it.lol

Ah, its still a car, I think it hurts cause of the amount of time and effort put into some of our vehicles more then the car itself.

I parked my car up at my parents while I went overseas for 6 months. When I got back, the local hoons told me my mother drove it for those 6 months. Why.........funniest thing ever they recon, a white haired 67 year old women driving a HSV at a top speed of 80km/h......and she loved it, I had to pry it out of her hands to take back posession.
