Howdy all.

For the last week or so I've been having a bit of trouble with my car. It's a TH exec with 180,000 on the clock. Problem is a massive loss of power, the engine will still make the revs, but it doesn't seem to be delivering the power to the wheels. Also I notice today that the car won't stall (it's a manual), ie. I can put it in gear, put the brake on and release the clutch and it doesn't stall, revs just drop to about 500 rpm. What I'm thinking is that there is something slipping somewhere, I don't know a lot about engines though so not really sure. Car is due for a major service, I'll be booking it in tomorrow, just thought I'd ask if there's anything in particular I should get them to check for / replace.

On a side-note, is there any advantage me in me taking my car to mitsubishi to get the service? I went there last time and wasn't very happy with them is all.

Cheers Guys / Girls.

Ben.

I reckon its the clutch Ben.. Does it rev heaps when you are driving and put your foot down..??? Does it sound like the revs are going faster than the car..???

Thanks for quick the reply. Yeah that's what happens, when i put my foot down the revs increase quickly but the speed increase doesn't match it, it's way off. How much would I be looking at for a replacement clutch? A thousand dollars or so right?

Thanks for the help mate, i'll hopefully get it sorted soon, just one last question, could i cause other damage to the rest of the car if I drive it like it is for a day or two? What will happen when the clutch is completely gone, will the car not move at all?

Thanks

Ben

If its grinding when your shifting dont drive it you will kill the gearbox. Also the flywheel will proabably have burn marks on it as well so that will probably need machining. Try and get it sorted.
