Only the Gasket for the inlet manifold (Resuable maybe a couple of times). And the gasket for the throttle body, if you actually remove it. Last time I did it I just propped the inlet manifold upon a block of wood. Makes it a little awkward but saves disconnecting everything and then reconnecting it all again.
And something to cover the lower inlet so you down get any cr@p down there.
And a torque wrench to correctly retension the bolts. The inlet plenum is soft alloy so be careful.

Thanks for that.
Whats the price of platinum plugs btw? Any particular brand/model recommended?

About $28. NGK ideally but Bosch or dare I say Champion should suffice.

Bosch plugs come from hell and smell like smoke. Avoid!
Had one brand new one fail out of the packet, and the rest failed within 3000K.

Surprisingly my TN's AstronII loved Bosch more than Champion, NGK etc.
Fouled the least of all... had 11 different sets sitting around swapped every 1000km.
(maybe should have fixed the coldstart injectors & stem seals... )

If you are prepared to do maintenance a bit more frequently, you could just put standard plugs in the rear. And then you change all of them together every 45K or so....
Just a suggestion. Standard plugs perform the task just as well, but only for half the time. But they are a third of the price...
And I wouldn't touch anything other than NGK.

Densos might be ok too, if they're made in Japan...?
btw what NGKs would one get for the 3.5 ?
Looks like there's several that can fit the job, some with v-groove, plain tip,
4-prong, iridiums etc etc ... price from like $3 to $20.
Bought halfdoz BKR5E-11; seems to be running good in the older car but haven't
had time to install the rest into my newer 3.5 so 3 still sitting on my desk.

Probably not much difference between the lot of them in terms of igniting fuel/air mixture. Some might be better than others in their ability to keep cylinder temps regulated and of course the platinums last longer. I've got the V groove NGK's in the 3.5 at the moment haven't noticed any difference to old set of plugs. Only problem I've got at the moment is I need the ralliart plugs (1 stage colder) When I removed the last set of plugs, standard type, they were white indicating they're getting too hot.

Been doing some online research for NGK part numbers.
Good links appear to be -
* http://www.sparkplugs.com
* http://www.ngkspark.com.au
BKR5E-11 >> Standard Plug (USD2.24)
BKR5EGP-11 >> Single Platinum Plug (USD2.68)
PFR5J11 >> Double Platinum Plug (USD11.71)
BKR5EIX-11 >> Single Iridium IX Plug (USD6.95)
I didn't find any Oz prices so included the USD price for comparison.
There is a bloke on eBay selling BKR5EGP-11's. eBay Dude (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&item=180018444640&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)

I found a link in a post here that detailed in pictures the removal of the inlet plenum.
Well, now I can't find it. I'm sure I bookmarked it but it appears not.
Can some one point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
William.

Speaking of all of this...I'm about to do my own in about an hours time. should be fun. I'm putting iridium's in, plan to change all the plugs more often in the future.

Thanks. I already have the manual on cd however your post made me take a closer look.
While the gasket has 5 holes on the front edge the picture of the lower manifold shows only 3 holes. This agrees with the bolts I can see.
The link I was looking for went to someones homepage with colour pics.
Edit: Found it in the wiki.. http://home.iprimus.com.au/pjmorris/spark%20plug/spark%20plug%20change.htm

Oh one more thing...
Should I use "copper slip" on the plugs ?
