Just reading another thread about EGR gaskets etc, so went and had a look on my 3.5L and you can see on the rear of the plenum theres 3 holes (2 small ones for bolts and 1 big one for exhaust gas methinks) and on my headers I can see a pipe coming off one of them, I assume this is where there is supposed to be a pipe or something?

Theres nothing there on mine............never has been whole time ive owned it.

Good/Bad????? Opinions?

I wouldnt worry about not having the EGR but I would cover the hole on the plenum. I made a little gasket to block mine. Of course its illegal to disconnect it but meh.

From what i heard is that the 3l V6 do not have that? I dunno. I could be wrong. Are there any advantages from removing it?

EGR pipe recirculates exhaust gases to warm the incoming air which basically reduces the cylinder temperature by affecting the efficiency of combustion. The reduction in cylinder temperature reduces the NOx emissions thus allowing the magna to meet EPA restrictions.

Removing the pipe and blocking of the EGR might give you 1-2kW gain at best. The EGR system normally doesn't operate when the engine is cold and during Wide open throttle. Only at steady, closed circuit conditions.

My RPW Headers didn't even have an EGR well so mine was blocked off with a little blanking plate I made.

It'll keep your engine cleaner since you wont be putting exhaust gunk back into the engine. EGR valves tend to get gunked up and stop operating correctly over time. Then they can steal power if they stay open during WOT.

Another method of blocking off the egr valve is to install a ball bearing in it's intake port. So in essence, when it's meant to suck in air, it's actually sucking ball (bearing)lol In this case the blanking plate wouldn't be needed, although it's still probably recommended.
