Hey guys,
I have 18X8" rims on the Magna (TH), and its been lowered 2" with Pedders Springs.

Now, I took it into Bob Jane for a tyre checkup, and they found that one tyre had scrubbed out almost completley on the inside of the tyre. This tyre was on the front left of the car. They thought it was a faulty tyre, and gave me a new one. Very nice of them i thought.

Now, the bloody thing is doing it again, and its also scrubbing one out on the rear right.

The bloke at Bob Jane rekons one of the bushes has gone and the tyre is constantly trying to drive away from the car (if that makes sense). And apparently its a common thing for magna to scrub tyres on the rear, a camber kit will fix that apparently, $600 later, and i will probably have to replace 2 tyres @ about $200 each.

Has anyone else had this problem, or heard of it or can give me advice.

Among other things that have happened to it doors not locking, several oil leaks and with only 125k klms on it. Its very disappointing, especially with the care i take of it.

I am so close to trading it in on a Subie and just keeping it standard.....

Cheers guys,
Paul

What size are your tyres and what's the load rating? Load rating should be 95, and with 18x8 you should have 235/40 tyres. Never heard of oil leaks or anything... This post wasn't very helpful, kinda tired, sorry.

I still think its excessive camber on the front and rear. A drop of greater than 30mm in suspension height requires a camber correction kit to be fitted. Especially in the rear. Rear camber is around -1deg before you start lowering. Get a proper suspension place to give you a 4 wheel alignment. At least that will tell you whether it's your suspension setup or not.

BTW, what tyres are you running?

What offset are the rims?
Strange about the oil leaks, i guess it all just depends on the life it's had. My dad's TF is nearly at 200k kms and hasn't had a single oil leak.

MA-V1 or Z1??

Interesting, Same wheel/tyre setup as me.

When I had my 4 wheel alignment (post castor kit)

Front Camber was 0deg  (damn....Looks around for a spare pair of camber pins)
Rear Camber was -1deg

I'd be concerned if I suffer inside scrubbing with this setup. There is something to be said about wheel alignments every 5K-10K.
