My TJ VR-X has a January 2001 compliance plate, and was originally owned by MMAL in Adelaide.

In mid-2003, it somehow was bought by a Brisbane Mitsubishi dealership (Zupps) and sold as a used car, probably as an ex-factory vehicle. It only had 17000km on the clock at this stage.

The reason for this post is that I just wanted to clarify a few things about my VRX, which is a Series 1 TJ judging by the 01/2001 build date.

The car is fitted with :

One-piece parabolic headlights, but the indicator part is not "clear" like I've seen on KJ II Veradas - I thought there was only one type of one-piece paras? (Can anyone correct me?)
See attached picture

No footwell lights. No map reading lights. Just one miserly (standard) light in the middle of the roof

No climate control

4 speaker (lousy) stereo. ie. no tweeters

"Mitsubishi HI-POWER" single CD head unit (doesn't sound very high powered to me at all)

NO traction control

but does have cruise control

So, if anyone else has early TJ VR-X's, could you please confirm your specification level in your vehicles, just to see if mine matches up, or whether my car could have been an evaluation or test vehicle?

Thanks
Justin

Apart from the one piece para's your car's specs closely match my '00 TJ Sports. Your Para's look normal to me, looks like the reflector inside is coloured not the actual lens.
Traction Control only came in the Tippy's (and Auto's?)

I know that the early VRX's didnt have tweeters, and didnt have climate control. They came later.

Sounds about right. I've got a July 2001 VR-X

It's got the single roof light, four speaker stereo with regular CD player (has been replaced tho :D) regular air-con, and cruise control. However, mine does have traction control. Do you have a TCL button on the dash to the right of your steering wheel? That disabled traction control, so if that button's there it's safe to say that you have traction control.
