How are your struts and springs?

Odd but slight tramp will cause the struts to clap out, causing a lot more tramp, causing the struts to clap out even more lol

Softer front suspension will help.

Examine your engine mounts, if these are shot you'll get tramp BAD. Might want to consider poly ones for the side mounts, ie: the ones near the strut towers.

Another thing is the whiteline anti lift kit, I've heard good things about these.

Check your mounts first, that would be the easiest thing to check.

EDIT: Damnit TC, you beat me lol

Since I had the castor kit/anti lift/18x8's installed I haven't experienced much if any axle tramp in my TJ auto. But torque steer is a BEE-Arch! Way more than before. Far too much traction!! Wait... that's a good thanglol

i have coilovers i think they might be set too hard..i dunno

As said already, check engine mounts and also your front shocks.

Engine mounts for sure. Mine used to axle tramp a bit when my top driver mount was rooted. Replaced it with a poly one from megatron helped heaps.

Set your shocks softer and see if it helps.

My car tramps hard in 2nd on boost and I have spent hours trying to fix it, its something you may just have to deal with

I've never experienced axle tramp since fitting hotbits sport spec coilovers, and I have very stiff front suspension, crappy tyres and engine mounts completely inadequate for the power my car now produces.

I know it's not a cheap fix for the axle tramp issue, but I'm interested to know if others with coilovers have had the same experience.

I used to have massive axle tramp, was a nightmare, I replaced my engine mount, the big one with a RPW one and it has never axle tramped since, it just squeels the tires a bit very much like a RWD car does, no more bouncing and hopping on the road.

I really believe this to be the fix for this mungrel problem.

Excuse the stupidity, but is axle tramp that violent shaking that feels like the front of the car is jumping up and down off the ground when the tyres are just losing traction? I get it on hard dry launches or when a wheel lets go in the wet, especially in 2nd.

That is exactly what axle tramp is my friend.

yar, guys i used to know also called it diff-bounce in FWD's.

remember in our rides, the drivetrain is all in the engine mounts, keep them tight, and perhaps see what a different compund/set of tires does and remember, its all in the pedals ;)

Ive been told Axle tramp is a power problem.. Its in the middle stage.. A little less power and it dont happen and a little more power and it will spin.. So back off the gas or get more grunt..:P

Thats right, due to the nature of FWDs shifting their weight to the rear during takeoffs, they are more susceptible to axle tramping then RWDs.

So you tend to get the situation just the right amount of power, which isn't enough to spin the wheels completely but due to the reduced front end weight the tyres will skip'n'slip until you either as EGO said "reduce or increase power" to get out of this zone. Axle tramp can also be worse when taking off with the wheels turned where there is more torque loading on the axles.

Worn shocks and engine mounts increase the likely hood and duration of axle tramping as the wheels tend to keep bouncing (amplifying the tramping).
