You tell us what you want first then we can work around that.

I got 2 x JBL GTO's for $130 each and they can be fed about 400WRMS each.
Tell us what sub you have, or what you plan to buy, or how much money you have to buy a sub, or what you want out of the sub (i.e. great sound quality or something like a SPL Sub(very loud sub))

Theres so many choices its worth doing your research first.

usually though anything above 300WRMS is enough

How much do you plan to spend on and amp/sub combo all up? We can then work it out from there :).

ok cool thanks.... so i should choose the subs first then..... i dont know.... im doing my audio bit by bit....

i dont know if i want say 2 x 10's 1 x12 2x 12's 15's?

i just want mega bass, but not for max db... i just like a killer bottom end, when i feel like it...

i was thinking 2 12's

what kinda $$ need to be spent? car audio is strange, cos i can get what appears to be a decent 12 i a box for say $200, but then i payed $350 for an old JL about 5 years ago sub only.. and it was not enough... not enough bass for me.. dont rember the specs

like i said i got 2 JBL GTO 1202D's from strathy for $130 each, and i can tell you now they pump out alot of bass (then again what sub doesnt:think:)

Some others which are good bang for buck are the clarion range of sub (PA12S) and the pioneers (TSW306DVC's) which can all be had for around the $120ish mark each...
i only know a bit about the lower end subs..

if you wanna spend more....PM MitsiMonsta magnat, or S_tim_ulate...

it really depends on the subs that ur thinking of using.

ie, some only need 100w rms, others need over 1000w rms

more info needed!

but to get an amp that produces a constant 400w rms would cost a packet esp if you need 2 of them..... been looking at the specs and the 10zillion watt amps only put out around 80wrms..

basicaly id like a 2 subs like you said and 1amp to run it... at the end of the day though i dont wanna spend mega $$$$ so like $1-200 a sub is ok if you get the idea

4x 35wrms amp mono'd - 140wrms++ for about $70 new under warranty
Some 12" Sub which is rated at around "500w peak" or about 150wrms... nothing from Pioneer or anything like that though, their bottom of the range line is crap. My best mate has the $70 and $160 Pioneer subs which are the most common Pioneer new range subs, and they are both hopeless... waste of money. He spent $2300 on a Pioneer system, and my couple hundred dollar eclipse/sony/response-MTX(now alpine vr here)/crossfire system hammered it.

I agree, just dont spend too much money on the ****, my $1000 amp just smoked last week, still waiting to find out if its covered under waranty. The point is, if you like loud bass and want your system to last, buy something relatively cheap, durable and still loud. Response will definately give you this in all areas.

I did alot of research before forking out a few grand for my system. and as you said, for the power, reliability and price, response was the best.

I picked up my 800W monoblock (1000WRMS @1ohm) for just under $300 delivered....now tell me that aint a bargain (eBay of course:D)

That is a very broad question.

You need to match your sub power with the amp power.

No use getting a 500W amp and a 700W sub. Get your sub/s and then decide on an amp. If you are getting 2 subs, you will need an amp that is stable at the load you want to attach it to.

Don't forget to remove either your rear parcel shelf, or your rear seats.

Subs work by large volume of air movement, so imagine inflating a balloon in a box... then trying to inflate it more thats your boot + sub.

Remove the parcel shelf / rear seats / turn both into a cheese grater and achieve better bass with less dollars. Otherwise all you're doing is shaking the living s%it out of your chassis, boot, mounts, locks, window winders and not actually passing on 'bass' you're just creating vibration not bass.

Bass is felt not heard is the other thing to remember, just because you can hear your sub doesn't mean its working efficiently.

Don't forget you want a flat response curve not jagged or else you'll have high / low points in the transmissivity of your sound waves.

You'r better off getting an overpowered amp (say 1000W amp for a 800w sub) and not running it at full, less chance of clipping blowing the sub and sounds better...

Should that be 1,000w amp, with 800w sub?

Most Likely yes :P
