right...now to ask a dumb question......Anyone ever had red LEDs in the background and blue led in front in the instrument cluster? would the red and blue be independently visible? or are they mixed into god knows what?

I'm have NO IDEA about colours and the effects when they mix. :confused:

Red + Blue = Purple.

LED's are pretty directional remember, which makes them not the best for that sort of stuff. It could also work by not allowing the colours to overlap so you dont get purple.
