What would be the legalities for a two door magna in WA? I'm going to ring licencing now, but if it's done properly with an engineer's certificate, I can't see any problems... I wanted to gut the rear doors, but just welding it shut and removing everything from the door, leaving the intrusion bar in there, and aluminium sheeting it would look good.

Those rims are $1200 with tyres... I am definately going to get some 17's like that in black with chrome outer. I forgot whos Magna is in that pic... and it's the best side on pic I have of a magna exactly the same as mine =)

i reckon it would look wrong.

it would be better to get the front doors extended as well, expensive yes but would look alot better

That's what I thought until I photochopped it... moving back the T-pillar and getting a bigger door etc would be the way, but it's really not worth it for me =P I am also thinking a two door magna would be total cop bait.

Do it right or don't do it at all. It would look stupid if you don't make it look like it's suppose to be like that. Door extension FTW!

In principle it'd make a good project for a different looking Magna. Those who know Magna's would do a double-take. Those less interested wouldn't even notice.

Only real way to do it would be a total custom job extending the front doors.
But in reality, probably more work, effort & $$$$ that it's worth.

I don't know about the WA Vehicle rules but here in Vic. - You'd need an engineers certificate and stuff for any mods like that. Things like engine swaps, convertables, roof chops, etc. all need them and sometimes more. :doubt:
Also, you'd need to have folding forward front seats for passenger access.
You could just leave the back doors functional and shave the handles off (like they do in the US) but also not sure how legal that is. I know door handle shaving is illegal here in Vic. But maybe just the back would be okay?

I reckon it looks pimpin!

Dooooo eeeeet! And whack like a matress or something in the back.

Then when youre over it, sell the car to me. (you can keep the matress :) )

If your serious then really you would have to cut the whole car in half making it about 15cm shorter and then extending the front door so it looks like a real two door.
And for this your going to need some serious engineering.
The easy option would be weld the rear door, shave the handle and remove the rear seats and make it a subwoofer speaker enclosure, so you dont have to worry about the front seats. Probably would look ok if done right.

GRDPuck - I'd drive it around till it got a defect notice, then worry about presenting the certification to the licensing.

Gas_Hed - I am nearly getting the angle grinder out =)

If you're going to do it, shorten the wheelbase.... you could easily take about 1 foot out of the length of the car if you make it a 2 door. While you're at it - make the doors "lambo" style and convert it to RWD.

Otherwise I don't see the point.

I could if I could be bothered... but welding up the doors and flattening it all is going to be a piece of cake, since I am painting the car soon anyway.

I have thought about it... and I'm going back to the sleeper not standing out look. I want to be able to take my mates in the car, so four doors will be ok.

Its a good idea, I'll give you that. But to me it makes no sense whatsoever to do that to 10+ y.o car.

i seen a VL done in two door with extended doors, looked realy good. Except it was a VL.
Also seen a BA XR8 two door which looked nuts
