Hey all...
After looking at a nicely designed Autometer 20 LED mixture meter (and picking myself up from the floor when I saw the price) - I realised that building smothing like this would be fairly straightforward.

After all, a pair of LM3914's on a nice circular PCB surrounded with LED's would be pretty easy to throw together - and cost a LOT less than $50.

Would there be any interest in these (at this price) - as I will probably be knocking off a few boards soon... Need to come up with a decent way of mounting these as well (how about a HUD in one of the dash speaker holes?)

Any suggestions as to features as well? These boards are multi-use as well - you could quite easily measure vacuum/boost if you hooked them up to a 2 bar MAP sensor (or vacuum on a 1 bar sensor) etc etc.

Cheers

I'd definitely be interested. But all depends on the final product (as in design, mounting, etc..)

could you make it so it could be put behind the display in the middle above the air con controls. like where the check light and stuff come up when you turn on the car

You can get them on Ebay for $60 :) but i think they are a lil different than your idea...

Dont ever shop in a phsycial shop if you want to save $$ lol

Good point. It isnt worth making one looking at those prices, once you factor in mounts etc is isn't worth it.

Oh well :P

I've got one of these babies in my car right now. Only took a few hours to put together and I'm a complete newbie with a soldering iron.

Heath, other than looking pretty and telling you when your in closed loop mode, a cheap o2 display is going to be useless.

They are only ever needed for tuning.

just got one of the auto-meter ones on saturday and installed it yesterday, fantastic looking piece of kit, complete rice/wank factor but hey, it looks cool haha

p.s- and yeh, for the gauge and autometer mounting cup... about $215  ..... killed an afternoon though:P

Yep fair enough - they are a bit ricey, I must admit. The Jaycar kit looks pretty neat though - I will have to have a look at that...
