View Full Version : Temp Guage
Who who owns a a magna tf 97 advance...
My temp guage is at C when motor is off, and go's to the middle of the guage when I start the engine and stays at the point for the rest of the trip.
This is normal? I only have 1 car at my diposal to test and thats my mums falcon and it seems to graduly heat up over a long run.

Thats about right. Mines always one notch down from the middle.
I haven't done any freeway runs yet so I'll be interested in how it goes.
My old VN had the best temp gague, it was so on the mark. You could watch it go up and down based on what and where you were driving.
Opps sorry, It does grudaually move up, went around the block then it hit the middle.

You want it to stay in the middle. You don't want it going up trust me.

Blakes correct there...not often he is ;)
but yah he is...if it goes over about middle i suggest u find a mechanic ASAP!
it should sit just under the middle after driving for bout 5-10mins constent...and stay there! Its just showing the engine is warm...

the magnas have great cooling system - especially the new TE onwards models!!
they are safe to run up to the point where the needle starts creeping right up to the top.
anywhere up to 3/4's is ok - any higher then that get it checked
i used to do alot of highway driving up north with the aircon on - ave speed 130 - so that even then it only stayed just below half way - so half way is normal!!

I have had my car in real punishing conditions, heat, long drives, A/C full blair and the heat gauge has never budged from half way.
You little ripper! God i love magna's!
hehe, yeah the temp starts off low, a lap around the block and it gradually moves to the middle and stays about there, if im on a long trip, it might go 1 mark above middle but never any higher so far.

I just made a trip from Darwin to Katherine and back (~ 300Km) average speed around 180, aircon on all the way. Temp gauge stayed the usual one notch under middle the whole way.

No, I hardly ever get to alice. And no, I didn't see you driving around, but I'll keep my eyes open next time ;)
I know the car you're talking about - see it around a lot, but I don't think I know the driver.
Haven't got MSN at the moment.
I drive a 2002 TJ Sports, sedan, manual.
