most of my weekend was spent putting a new head unit in and screen, head unit is under passenger seat,
and the screen was in a horrible casing, that i cracked open, cut out the buttons for the screen and put them in the coloum box wired with cat 5 cable, ..... (only thing i had but worked well) :D
bought them both off a mate who rolled his car then he got a new car with a kick **** audio set up in it.
so after hours of work i have the before and after somewhere below
first time in putting in a screen, so tell me what u think
Thanks,

Nice and neat, so how do you operate the head unit, is it a touch screen? If so then awesome idea.:D

on the second pic, there is a shiny thing on the bottom right of the screen, its a remote sensor that goes to the head unit
not bad for the head unit and the screen for $300
still rather a touch screen tho

Looks good mate.
If you don't mind, can you tell us what screen you used? Looks like its a nice fit, did you have to hack anything up?
I'm looking at doing the same thing.

no i dont mind at all, im not sure on what brand it was, but yes it was a good fit,
i got the screen and the head unit off a mate who rolled his P.O.S commodore and then got a new car with a sick stereo setup in it,
the head unit is sound storm, (i know its ****, but im working on getting a new one)
but ill find out what brand it is....
and yes i did have to hack things up abit, but not the car itself,
the screen came in a casing that got un-screwed and taken out of the case, (it was good that the buttons were on a sep circuit board than that actual screen, made it alot easier to work with), then hacked up the casing to get 4 screen control buttons out (on/off, brightness ect..) then mounted them in the coloum box..
i done this because ive heard somehting about a law coming in about the lcd screens in cars and being a distraction to drivers, but not 100% sure on that, but anyway, now i can turn my screen off and on without affecting the music playing.
but ill get the info on the screen tomorrow at work, so ill let u know then

yeah i have a pioneer in my car with an av master or whatever and it is overkill for me.
they shouldnt be on while driving. i find it hard not to watch while driving. so it only dvds only come on while stationary

Ive done the same thing in my car, but i cut the ash tray and lighter out and moulded the HU in there its not quite finished yet, needs a bit more fibre glassing around the screen and then painting.
