I have noticed on my TE and many other TE/TFs and the other 2 models that followed, that the plastic guard under the engine (I think its there more to direct air flow underneath the engine) easily splits. I want to replace it but not if the replacement part will end up getting damaged just as easily. Does anyone know if mitsu has modified the part or if there is an alternative easy fix. Any ideas appreciated.

You could get the CAI package from RPW?
It would eliminate the need for the airbox completely and have you working with a pod filter instead... its only made for manual cars I think...

RessurectoR,
Probably didnt explain myself well enough. What I am referring to has nothing to do with the induction system. Its a cheap and nasty peice of plastic that connects to the lower trailing edge of the bumber and covers the lower section of the engine (the sump, pulleys and drive belts). It allows the air going under the car have a smooth passage towards the rear.

Ah, yep my bad, I completely mis-read everything..
But if I remember correctly and I'm picturing the right peice of plastic, then MagnaArt took his off completely with no side effects after the panel beater did a dodgy job of fixing it back into place... so I reckon you just remove it and forget about it and no harm will suffice.

nigel - this is the scratch guard - i havent had any issues with mine splitting - mainly it just helps deflect stones from bouncing up from under th engine
Just get some cable ties to hold it together!! ;) works wonders!!
