Hey everyone,

I have a 1994 Verada V6 Ei and it's been giving me some problems. It is quite intermittant and hard to pin down. It's most annoying in peak hour traffic. When i goto put my foot on the accellorator the car almost lurches forward and you can feel and hear a clunk (like gears changing) in the front of the car. There is no smooth accelloration at low speeds. This is very annoying to drive like this. Also when i am driving at high speeds and re-apply my foot to the accelloration there is a bump that starts in the engine area and often radiates towards the back of the car. It seems there is no smooth accelloration in this area too. I have had a major service recently and the mechanic said he couldnt pick it up. But this only seems to happen when lots of stopping and starting is required and after the car has warmed up a little. The mechanic also said my car is in great condition - engine wise. I also got the entire fuel system cleaned out which really helped with the sluggishness, however this remaining problem is very annoying and makes my car hard to drive at times. I had the transmission looked at once before and he said it was fine, but im confussed. Any ideas?

Whats the transmission fluid like? If the fluid is dirty could be causing it to overheat. Maybe try a transmission oil flush first and see if that helps.

Drain and refill the tranny. Change the filter if it has one (unsure from memory).

If it still does it, try a bottle of nulon auto treatment, its a band aid fix though. It "fixed" a tranny in a car I was looking to sell, but I dont know how long the effects of this last.

Also, if all else fails take it to a transmission place, but IMHO dont take it to ATS, they are dodgy (well at least the one around here is).

Good Luck.

Also, get an auto elec to check out your ECU.
