Hi, I just notice that the clutch pedal on my TJ has some freeplay at the top of the travel, just when you put your foot on the clutch.

The dealer tells me it is normal, but I do not think so, as my friend's TS manual does not have this freeplay and feels a lot better. Can you adjust the pedal to take up the slack/freeplay?

ALso, my clutch is starting to judder during takeoff, especially when the fast idle is on. Is this adjustable at all?

If so, if anyone could advise of a good mechanic to go to in Brisbane, that would be great. Worst come to the worst, I'll replace the clutch, but if I can tweak the current clutch that would be ideal.

THanks

there should be half an inch or so of freeplay before the clutch begins to engage. there is a nut you can adjust underneith, from what i can remember, i think you just need a 10mm spanner or socket.

check your engine mounts. If you wanna check your clutch for slipping, drive along the road, say in 3rd or 4th. just pop the clutch in and out, and see if it grabs straight away.

Ive owned 2 TJ Manuals, both done this..

Mitsu reckoned there were some dodgy pressure plates in the TJs but refused to fix it without seeing the problem. Seeing as it does it like once or twice out of every 100 take offs thats near impossible so ive learned to live with it...

although the clutch is hydraulic, there is still a pushrod adjustment from the master to the pedal, and a pedal stop adjustment
