hey guys,

i really want to build a complete custom parcel shelf for the cressida and the guys over at toyota cressida.net have no idea what sound is so i thought i would ask you guys. How would i go about making a complete custom parcel shelf. I really want to make my 6x9's look like they should be there rather than just sticking out so i want to move them to the sides and have something in the middle, how do you go about putting stuff there when the whole parcel shelf has metal underneath it except the speaker cone holes (which are TINY)
can people please post pics of there parcel shelves, i couldnt find any

cheers trav

You might have to make them sit on an angle so the whole speaker (including magnet) can be sort of moved anywhere....
USe something like 12-18mm MDF for the actuall shelf aswell.
If you had some time, try fibreglassing the angled speakers into the sides, then paint/carpet it, it would look really cool if ya could do that..

Hope that made some sense

yeah, my main problem is that the cone + magnet is so deep, i might give fibre glassing a go but i have absolutely no idea how to do it. i was thinking of making two speaker boxes and then maybe in the middle having a bit of perspex with a neon behind i and then tint the perspex and have some writing in it thats not tinted/sprayed so it says something glowing blue (for show use only ;))

Just don't go cutting the metal on the shelf as this is illegal. But I'm guessing from your posts that you may allready know this anyway. Just wanted to say it just in case.

yeh, but i dont think he has the kinda money for that stuff, im currently getting my parcel shelf re-trimmed, ive fiber glassed/bogged some split pods onto the factor shelf, also ive re-enforced it cos its pretty flimsy and its going off to be trimmed in black leather,
