ok took my TR in to get a new steering rack and new engine mounts got it back and i noticed that all gears were not changing as normal like they wernt kicking down and they wernt going like 1st 2nd 3rd until say 4500-5000rpm i dont hammer the car or anything at all and dunno why it is doing this.

so i looked in gregorys manual and it was saying somthing bout having gears stuck in 2nd and 3rd and said it could be a faulty Throttle posistion sensor so after i checked fluid which was good i noticed that D light wasnt lighting up on the dash didnt think anything of it.

i pulled the TPS plug out and there was all water in it so i put some cotton buds in there cleaned the water out plugged it back in took it for a spin it chuttered really bad twice nearly stalled then seem to go back 2 normal working order like it was.

would this have been the problem of the high reving gear changes or was it just somthin else dat just fixed itself??

the mechanic said it was the ECU or somthing but i didnt think it did that as i had have the battery out b4 and it hasnt done it.

thats dosnet really answer my question but thanks for trying to help

like teh TPS was not touched just wanted to know if water in the plug would mak ethis erratic behaviour in the shifting up and down of gears in the auto Gearbox.

Sounds like the ecu was just reset, sounds like they disconnected the battery when they repaired your car. It'll relearn itself (which it sounds like it has) and all will be good :).

What he said. They sometimes play silly buggers like that. If it comes back check to make sure all the plugs on yur trannie are tight and not being crushed by anything, they may have bumped or undone 1 when doing the rack or mounts.

Also when you find water in a plug like that its OK to spray it out with a little CRC or WD40 etc. Its not conductive, gets rid of the water and prevents corrosion later.:D
