View Full Version : NO dash lights workin PLEASE HELP

HEY to all 3rd GEN owners
i have a 1996 TE. could someone please help me ive just installed som neon lights under my dash theyre just plugged into the cig lighter and now none of my dash cluster or accessorie lights are workin
could someone please help me, i think i may have crossed some wires re conncting the cig lighter socket what should i DO? :bowdown:

unplug neons...
check fuses...
Replace busted fuse with the same rating fuse

Do it right the 2nd time and throw out the ghey neons... :p

the neons look good man you think thats the pblem? though i think i crossed 2 wireson the connection the cig lighter wold that blow a fuse?

Nah, no ones being pushy, just the written word being taken out of context, happens alot on the internet, hence why there is sometimes arguments in here, things just taken out of context.

So did you fix your problem bud?

If you crossed the two wires the yeah you might have blown a fuse, at worse case scenario melted the wiring together.

Looking at what you originally wrote you might have too much load on that wiring and blown the fuse.
Have you tried another power source?

ok thnks im just sor stressed coz i cant fix it
nar i havent fixed it yet ill try tomoro
ive only looked at one fuse and that seemed ok but ive ony got the neons on the 12 volt line what else can i try?

Bear in mind that no dash lights will most likely mean that you don't have any tail lights.

Check all the fuses that could relate to the problem. Have a squiz in your manual to see which ones it could be... or just pull one out at a time and check...

Oh and I was being pushy... :P Deal with it...:cool:

btw the fusebox is under the dash on the drivers side, i take it you're looking at those fuses.
Whatever power line you spliced into (i'll assume it was the ciggy lighter) thats probably the fuse you blew.

ive tested all my fuses and theyre all fine the bloke that owned the car before me obviosly was a tool and wired his stereo into the alarm and just cut a whole bunch of random wires
i dont know what to do i think im gonna take it straight to an auto electrician.

I have had 5 neons, a 300watt power inverter and a phone charger running off the cigerette light without a problem.
