Ok i got a 97 Ei TE Verada, be4 anyone accuses, i had a quick search and couldn't fin anything on my model.
back to the topic does anyone know what my fuel tank size is, i think its 64L but cant be sure???
The fuel light thing on the dashboard, which tells u when ur low on petrol, does anyone know how much litres u have left when it stays constantly on for the first time right after it goes on and off?

2 questions and it would be great if both could be answered, thanks in advance

Yep, Should be around 71L, although my fuel light starts coming on after ive used 48L or so (when going up hills)

you should have a 71L tank but im unsure , the petrol light normally comes on when you have less than about 20% of fuel remaining. if you have the manual for your car it should have it all in there

wtf, apparently, according to drive.com.au, in the specifications of a 97 TE Ei Verada the fuel tank size is 64L.
why would that be less than a 3L TE which has 71L!
all this confusion, anyone know for sure what a KE fuel tank size is

I have put in 67litres in my 99 verada. Light was on and fuel guage was sitting on empty. Talk about cutting it fine. :)

71L.. fuel lights are supposed to come on around about 8 litres left, however, the angle of the car can be the biggest factor on when it comes on. But all cars are different.
All ya can do is learn how your car operates over time

I bet! You must do what I do, fill up until its full up to the rim.. I easily get another 4 or 5 litres after the first click off.

I thought all 3rd gens had 71L tanks (68L for the wagons)? Anyway, my fuel light comes on with about 18L left (53L used after a fill). It's kinda annoying, especially when you put $20+ in and the damn thing doesn't turn off!

I think the most I've ever put in my tank was 70.5L... I regularly fill it up with 67-68L. Not game enough to risk running out, I guess.

cheers,

65-68L means it's still pretty low. lol.. I dont let mine under half a tank these days, otherwise it offends my wallet to fill. I hate it when it's been sitting in empty for awhile and ya put in even up to $25 and the guage doesn't go over the empty line!

Im in the same boat as you Canadian.

KE that the light comes on and I fill and only get 50-52L in. I replaced my fuel sender (under rear seat) with one from a 3.0L TF and it was even worse! So yesterday I ripped one out of a 2002 TJ2 and put it in, interested to see what happens, Ill let you know.

My TF's fuel light has never come on, i think its busted, its been pretty low on fuel before, but yeah never comes on. When i turn the car to accessories the lil oil light comes on, but i dont even know what the fuel light looks like. :(

If the light comes on - put fuel in it. Simple.

If you guess how many litres are left - it's a sure way to run out of fuel, which can damage injectors.

u might be looking at the wrong place, the fuel light is located above your centre console air vents (in the speed alert area)

thanks ppl!
usually i fill up around 50km after the fuel light stays constant, and i usually get like 55L on average. Now i thought i had a small tank but with a 71L tank and filling up 55L that means i still got 20% of my fuel left!
Now i average 480km on 55L, and with 20% left then does that mean i can go 20% further, as in 20% of 480 which is 95 or something. so around 575km on 71L!
Is that good or bad!

480kms on 55L = 11.4L/100 which is quite good for combined cycle.

Theoretically, with that economy figure you'd see 600+ kms out of a 71L tank.

Theoretically, with that economy figure you'd see 800+ kms out of a 71L tank.

Haha yeah. I'm just making fun of TJ Sports cause of a raw deal we had with each other a while ago where he couldn't follow simple step by step instructions. I did the math wrong, then did it right and got 622kms.
