ok....

very general question

and would just like answers in general

how do i know how many ans what size subs to get.....

it seems everyone has different sizes and amounts....

lets base it on low end midrange $$$

i want a good wack of bass, i like a good punch! not too wobbly if you know what i mean....

so.....

i liked the idea of 2 x12's undecided on enclosure.......

but.... if 2 12's are good wouldnt 2 15's be better?

so whats the go... i have a monoblock thats 1/2/4 ohm stable and puts out 1000w rms @ 1 ohm...

lastly dual voice coils...... it there a BIG difference???

I was thinking about going for 2 of the Responce dual voice coil 12" carbonfibre in seperate sealed enclosures.... for convenience (remove one or both easily to use boot etc....)

whadda ya reckon, or is there something better i should be looking at...

i dont mind paying $250 per sub and same for the enclosure...

the rest of the system is response kevlar 6 x 9's in shelf and response 6.5"splits up front, was thinking about putting in the response 6.5" kevlar woofer in up front (the one with the huge magnet) the cabin speakers will be runing off a nice lil 4ch rated to no more than the speakers....

still undecided on headunit..... mine may be repairable..... or im getting a pioneer 6cd/dvd dual did dvd jigger... or i can get a brand new eurovox 6.5" 2 din dvd real cheap.... not sure about it though....

lastly what gauge amp wiring kit should i be looking at, the mono reccomends min 4ga.... and i was told capacitatiors are a wank for such a small system... plus the magna has a 110amp alternator which is pretty good....

after i work out the system i'll be spending some $$$ on sound deadening.... even with the speakers running off the factory h/u the car rumbles :D and supprisingly the rear view mirror u cant see through properley :)

Less focus on how many and what size... more focus on quality and power...

I could recommend 10" subs that would sound louder and clearer than 2 15's...

That being said I would look towards 1 quality 12" with a lot of clean power behind it in the right enclosure. Over two or more lesser quality subs.

Essentially 100 cheap subs will Never sound as good as 1 good sub, it's just more of the same bad sound.

If you focus on the right sound you can worry about getting it loud later on with power/ enclosure (if you want ported) and sound deadening to reduce road noise. Generally unless you are competing or simply going for phool sick windows down chap lap wank factor, 500 w rms is plenty into one sub, in terms of daily driving.

I'm using 2 12's with around 900 w rms and that is too overpowering for the fronts. I have them turned right down otherwise they just drown the frontstage out and rattle the car to bits even with many layers of sound deadening through the boot and parcel shelf. That's not to mean my system is quiet, its just that you shouldn't be aiming for a deafening sub setup if your frontstage cant keep up. (as that just makes an unbalanced system)

10" Diamond TDX
12" DD 3512d = loud if you have a lot of power
12" ID Max
15" IDQ
Kicker L7 solo
Boston G5
Treo

if you got the coin

But a good sub needs clean power, and more headroom = less stress on your amp.

People can shout of brands till they're blue in the face though, only way is to have a listen really.

Peace

12" DD 3512d = loud if you have a lot of power

if you have the money for the amps, go the DD 3515d - approx $999 each - they are the most collossal subs, rediculous ammounts of bass.
(however if your looking to propperly power those subs, the DD monoblock amps - 1 amp to 1 sub - would all up *2 x subs 2 x amps = $4000) but thats super super 1337 set up.
also the DD 6" and i think there 6.5"LT speakers (Long Throw) are also rediculously loud, if i had the money, hands down that would be my set up. - $250 - $300 each i think.
