hey hey guys.... im finally getting around to posting this up... last friday i took my car to Tower Audio oakleigh for them to put n my h/u and amp in...

First of all... TowerAudio is a great place, real professional and good work. When i rocked up i was surprised to find that the guyz running the place looked like they were supposed to still be at skool so i was a bit freaked but kudos to them, they did a top job.

I paid 200 bucks for them to put in my:

Pioneer DEH6850MP h/u which looks so freaking sweet
My Pioneer TS306C 12" 400wrms sub
my 800watt jaycar D-class mono which is running at 400wrms at 4ohms

I absolutly lovet he bass on this sub, its nice, hard and sharp. Im still breaking in the sub but i did crank it a bit for a song and WOW... its amazing... doesnt overpower the front stage and is so well balanced... i dont think ill be upgrading my front speakers just yet coz im pretty happy with wat i got. Also gives me time to save up for something real decent.... oir maybe another one of these kick *** subs...

Only complaint, they mounted my amp under the front passenger seat but if i have someone setting in the rear there feet can touch the amp where the cables and gains dials are...not good.... wat can i do in the form of something to protect it. i was thinking a carpeted MDF bracket type of thing to cover that part of the amp or some perspex shaped into a type of protective cover...wat do you guys suggest...

I havent had time to get pics yet but ill try and put them up asap...

what wires are hanging out from under the seat? power wires or just the speaker wires?
if its the speaker wires then you wont have a problem as if they are ripped out it will not cause any damage, it'll just make your speakers/subs stop working if they are ripped out.
if its the power wires then you might have a problem, maybe try and turn the amp 90degrees so that only the side is showing with no wires.
to put a bit of wood infront of the wire will sorta restrict the air flow for the amp

mah its just the speaker wires... just concerned with people puttin there feet on there...and getting dirty on it....

if its the speaker wires then you shouldnt have a problem. i had my power cables hanging out from under the seat in my old car which was an old hatchback and i never had a problem with people sitting in the back stepping on my amp. even i kicked it a few times when i was in the back

I wouldn't worry champ, most amps are under the front seats. I would just get something to cover the wires, I actually used my floor mats to cover the rear of the amps ( I have side venting fans on the Audisons ) so the amps didn't get scratched.:D

Would it really matter if the amps got scratched, though?
It's not like the duco of a car... :)
As long as the signal goes in, and comes out the same way, that's all I'd be worried about :D

I'd be more worried about overheating, esp. coming up to summer. You'd wanna keep the car nice and cool.

yeah i only ever park undercover and my windows are tinted so i shouldnt have to many probs with overheating...

also i think im just gonna use my floor mats to cover the end of the amp... probably the best bet...

If you look at an Audison SRx amp it has fans out the side, if you cover the rear of amp with only 5-10cm of carpet and don't block the fans they wont overheat.

Sorry I forget that my amps dont get pushed very hard... :D That Jaycar wont be working that hard either.

What happens if later down the track you sell the amp or boot mount it, people are funny and stingy people will pick on little scratches to get money off. If it ends up in the boot, all you will get is "Wow that looks great, dam what happened to that amp?"

amps only need an inch of room to breathe, if u set ur gains right u wont have any problems.

If you drive it beyond its capabilities any amp will overheat.

well i dont think selling it will be a prob coz i dont have plans for upgrading the sub/amp combo for a long while... (need to lower the car, rims, chrome grill, exhust just to name a few) before i get back to the sub/amp...

so u guys reckon it should be rite to just have a floor mat covering the end of it?

Is it not possible to just turn the amp around 90 degrees? How have they secured the amp down?

Mr İharisma

Yeah it will be right. :D

Tim-E I dont think there is enough room under the chair to move it around otherwise installers would make sure all wires where out of harms way. I know with my old Jaycar under the chair there was only one way it would fit and I had to deal with it lol
