OK, I need to get my lighter socket working ASAP.

2 main possibilities from searching the forum:

Barrel or Fuse

Question 1:

How do I remove the lighter barrel from a TE/TF? Will it fit a KE (I assume theyre the same but no harm in asking)

Im going to the wreckers in my lunch break and Im gonna yank one out, $10.

Question 2:

Which fuse should I be looking at in the drivers footwell?

Thanks in advance, need to get this fixed ASAP and Id rather have a crack at it myself and learn something than pay the local auto elec $77/hr to fiddle with it.

OK, so I figured the barrell out myself. Pretty simple.

Question about the fuse still remains though.

I'm not sure if you caan get the lighter socket out, coz i think it might be held on with plastic rivet looking things. You'd probably have to drill them out first or something. As for the connection, you're better off checking all the connections on the back of it and the fuse. Not sure what fuse to check, it should tell u on the user manual. I think it might tell u on the diagram on the fuse box cover.

easier if u just get a whole new bottom console piece.

Twist the end part on the back of the barrel.

Had me stumped aswell, so I was gonna buy the whole enclosure, then the dude at the wreckers grabbed it and screwed it and voila!

Yes it should say on the cover of the interior fuse box, just like the one in the engine bay.

I believe the Fuse is under 'CIGAR/Electric Mirror' its a 15A fuse which are blue (from memory)

Its simple to change, just get under the steering wheel, match up the cap of the fuse box with each colour and you will find it using the picture, you can usually tell its blown because its got a burn mark on the case of the fuse

Otherwise if you dont have a case where it explains, change all the 15A fuses will cost you like 2bux or whatever

In mine at least its the thrid from the right on the bottom row. But it gives a diagram on the fuse box cap. 15A Blue is correct. Mitsubishi is goig to take 2-3 weeks to get me a new socket (warranty) apparantely there are none in Aus.

I got it sorted out, the fuse was OK, so was all the wiring, power to back of barrel, except the wiring on the back of the barrel was a bit hows-your-father. Cut them off, wired to new barrel and voila!

Thanks everybody for your help.
