Hi guys,

i know this topic has been compared with the 5 speed AUTO.
but i couldnt find an answer for my question.

If there is any mechanics here or anybody with knowledge of gearboxes.
would it be possible to change the ratios of the 4 speed auto, in this case shorten the ratio of the first gear in order to give it a punchier start. Similar to the 5 speed auto.

one thread mention the 4 speed 1st goes up to 75 km/h and 5 speed 1st gear goes to 55km/h

by changing the ratio of first 3 gears to match the 5 speed and leave the 4 gear alone for fuel economy we could get better performance from the 4 speed.

a friend of mine did this with a VT commodore V8 and had good results.

what do you guys think?

Dude you asking a question that im sure no one here has actually tried, i have also looked into this and does seem a little to difficult and the gains wouldnt be worth the money and time spent messing with the autos ratio's, if you really wanna look at getting more power out of the auto i would suggest to do some research on a shift kit and manual valve body, i have looked into these two things and shift kits for magnas seem to be non-exsistent, but if you can find a good mechanic or friend that is willing to help it can be done.

good luck
