Hey all
Got some spare cash atm and was thinking of getting a Sat Nav for the car. I did a search and found out that there are several brands out there each with different functionalities. I wanted to know if anyone here has purchased a sat nav system and if they could post their
comments and feedbacks about them.
Basically I'm looking for one that has speed cameras and turn by turn instruction and user friendly. I would also like one that can be fitted in the centre console just under the stereo. Would prefer the setup colgate has . Pics below.
All comments about centre console installation are welcome
It would be good if u could reply in this form:

You need to chat with Ringa///Art - he has just recently installed an Eclipse AVN6000, it is DVD and sat in one - one bloody awesome system - apparantly, there is no other sat nav in aus that even comes close to this unit
here is the thread he started on it

I still stand by nokia symbians... Load up all the maps in australia in your pocket, and its not restricted to ur car either. You can use it anywhere.
Recalculates directions, shows you maps, gives voice instructions.

MIO c510 $799 , Using one at the moment. Awsome and not just because we are the distributor for them. easy interface nice design and its a bluetooth hands free kit. IF you don't need the Bluetooth then a C310 at $599
2nd hand HP 2200 pda: $100
4GB Kingston SD card: $260 (a bit overboard as TomTom only requires 512MB card. bought
the card for my camera but found out it can only take max of 1GB)
BT-77 bluetooth GPS receiver: $70.00 (off ebay, inc delivery and insurance)
TomTom v5.0 off torrent portal: free
Total: $430.00 (2GB SD cards are going for $60 nowadays so the above could be had for
$230.00)
Haven't lost me yet.

dude you live in victoria... a melway is $40 and using that you will be able to navigate far better than any sat nav there is... and with the $2000 change... well...
if you drive interstate a lot possably worth it, as for cameras etc... look up the locations online..
i dont like gps/satnav, when it works in the bush and in tunnels and inside maybe... and yeah i used to have a top of the line magellan unit... sold it now though..
