Hey guys...

im running into a bit of cash soon and i wouldnt mind adding a sub into the cressida. I have absolutely nothing for the install so i need to purchase everything down to the last cable. I will porbably get some mates to help me install so thats not gonna cost anything. So what would you guys reccomend on a $500 budget

Need:
Sub
Box
Cables
Whatever else :P

I listen to EVERY type of music (techno, rock, punk, metal etc) so i sorta want a versatile sub

Cheers

got an amp? if not..

Pioneer 306C $100
Jaycar 2x150 $200 (with haggling)
8 gauge cable kit (to make it easier than running around getting individual bits) $50
make you own box $60 (if you have the tools/skill) or $100 prefab

do the install yourself and your laughing :)

(1.5cuft sealed or 2-2.5cuft ported recommended for a 306C.

Yes it's possible, does you headunit have RCA output? Will make things ALOT easier. Amp plus wiring will set you back about $250, which leaves you about $250 for a sub and box, should be able to get something half decent for that price.

I've just finished some glassing (well half finished) and its easy... A bit messy the first time but you get the hang of it.

The trick is in spending ages masking the car up. Then using small batches of resin with many layers of glass for strength. A fibgreglass roller is essential to getting rid of all the little air pockets.

Give it a go. Make the baffle out of 18mm mdf then work your way from there

That HU has 3 preouts (front/rear sub) and an AUX in a very handy HU for under $300....
i agree with what Woob recommended, also consider the clarion PA12S for about the same price, something different compared to the everyday pioneer and they look very very meaty and go very very hard :D
For a box...pff.....Cost me $60 in 18mm MDF to make my dual chambered 120L sub box so i reckon like $50 for the sub box wood and carpet and your laughing

if your deck has at least one aux port one the back then your set, all you need to run from the deck is the rca cable and some remote turn on wire

Your deck has a dedicated sub output RCA channel so you're laughing!
To buy a box will cost you about $50 for an mdf carpeted box. With sub you can usually pick them up for just over $100 (for a clarion 600w 12inch). With the amp, i'd maybe look at spending abit more and going a monoblock, will give you room to upgrade the sub later. But if you're not fussed, a nice little 2 channel that can be bridged in LPF will work alright.
