Hey,

i want to paint my center console.... silver... or somewhere in those color coded range.... but i dunno if i'm gonna like it in the end... i get the feeling that its goona look very 'rice' when painted... need some encouragement....

what paint brand is most recommended and is there any top coat that you have to do to have that nice finish...??

it ends up nice man...do around ya speedo aswell...

goto bunnings...get silver...n a pearl over lay (purple-green or blue) probly got more colours now thow...looks wicked.
i wouldnt do ya aitvents thow...looks 2 much!

can the paint be easily scapped or cracked??
i put all sorts of stuff in my cupholders etc etc... so am i expecting to paint the console say twice a year???

put a clear coat over it and it should b fine...

do a silver coat till u get disiered colour...then add the pearl over it...until u get disiered colour...then add clear coat to protect...

Trust me,in the flesh,his job on the consoles is EXCELLENT!

I personally only have 1 qualm with the paint work, and that is that I feel it would have looked better to have the vents unpainted.. not the surround, that looks great, but the actual "fins" shouldve remained black.

Yeah see i look at the ralliarts with only teh centre console done and think - nah - it aint quite finished - but maybe thats just cos i am used to mine - oh well - each to there own.

what brand paint was done on that??
and did you use the 'pearl gloss'....if so how is the glare or the reflection of the sun...??

i used the cans of exteriro touch up paint that you get - the spraying has 3 coats of primer and about 5 coats of paint - the touch up paint is subaru silver - so it has a slight spakle in it.

if you gloss it you may find it too reflective in the sun

ok ive done this on my car. 6 months on ive had not even 1 scratch. Best thing to do is to mask off your cupholders and that other space just infront of the console lid that way your most used areas wont have any paint on them to be scratched (it doesnt look bad either). The paint i used wasn't your normal paint. I used the paint you get at hobby stores that they use to paint polycarbonate (a clear, very smooth and flexible plastic) shells for remote control cars. This paint doesnt need any primer, is a lot more scratch resistant than normal paint and is heat proof.

Anyhow your choice how you wish to do it but this is how ive done it on my car.

love the painting boys - question - i noticed that the steering wheel is a MUST which dictates the colour for the rest of the dash. so the question is - if i get another steering wheel - what happens to cruise control?

take yor seats to an auto upholsterers and they can turn them into leather sports or whatever style seats while using the original framework and mounting brackets for heaps less than buying new ones and having to go through the hassle of getting them fitted and meeting compliance standards. and also with the wheel, ive git the same problem having an airbag. no one will touch it.

im gonna re-do mine again over christmas, take off all the paint and start from scratch, and fix teh clips i broke :cry:

or ill goto emtech and get them to fit the plastic stuffs like the woodgrain

Doesn't the gloss reflect the sun in your eyes when you are driving??? I am thinking of doing something like that, but worried about the reflection of the gloss surface...

It cost me $100 to get done.

I love the painted consoles, especially in silver, I am doing it very soon, as looking at my dash for 14 hours coming back from sydney I think it needs it.

Well I just abought a plastic welding thingie.... $179
It came with some PVC and ABS rods...
I have tried it on one thing... but it will take a while to get used to using it :D
ANyway... Id say that is how you would fix it properly :D

well he went digging behind the console and found a few clips i knocked off and it looks good again, even fixed that wheelie thing i broke that controls the airvents

I hate the fact that it has thos big flat bits of plastic on either side.

The Ralliart and Limited VRX has silver as standard but last time I checked they were very very expensive!

Well reading these past 6 pages has given me the urge to do mine as well. My car is black with a green fleck through it and I have red plates. So I am thinking red would be the colour with a pearl over the top. Do the brake calipers at the same time. And if the funds hold out and it looks alright I might do my rims a light red ........ not pink but not blood red either.

I will update you when I get the ball rolling in the next month or so.

the handels are chrome in Veradas... and you can get them for about $40 each!

That dash looks weird.

I have climate control in my advance so the middle of the centre dash has another little screen in it.

Looks good though the painting and stuff. I have black snap on car seat covers. Better then any momo or recaro seat by far :P
