Hi kids!

Yes, another one of these 'what sub should i get' threads lol. Well, here goes. I currently have a DD 2515 in a relatively large ported box. I've finally managed to tune it so it kinda vibrates u and makes ur hair feel fuzzy when u drive around.

Anyhows, if you do browse on CAA occasionally, you would have seen this for sale:

Pioneer TS W5000 SPL sub.

Yes, it is a beastie....but I'm just not sure whether I should sell my DD for this pioneer. I'm sure it would be able to match the DD in terms of SPL and may even do better for power handling. SQ should be much better though (might put it in a big sealed box lol) who knows, think about the enclosure later.

If i do want to get this sub I'm guessing I would need to fork out another $250 at least (if i sell my DD)....then another $500 for addional cabling, fuses, distro blocks, and new boot install. Might find another sub amp while i'm at it too...so it will cost a lot.

So, if you were me, keep DD or buy pioneer?

EDIT: Oh yeah, or should I save up and get a proper sub...like a Bramah, RE XXX, Vibe etc etc..

Meh, you've already got a pumping sub, dont waste the time I reckon unless its a big difference and your into that sort of thing. Save your money and do something else with it.

Completely agree there.
Those subs are hard core comp subs. If you already have a good sounding system then stick with that.
It will cost huge amounts of money to replace that sub. For that thing you will need something like 2000w RMS Monoblock.....that alone will set u back quite abit.

I'm just over half way in terms of amp power atm..

mmm......the choices are endless.

Pffft you only have a 1kw or so, where is the power :bowrofl:

Save up and get a real sub. Those Pioneers are loud but sound just as crap sounding as the DD. You need something like a G5 / RE XXX / IDMAX / Vibe Space / Oz Matrix / Treo / Hertz Mille to keep you happy. :D

bloke i know fitted a 5000SPL in a competition winning SQ ute. they are very nice, accurate sounding subs, that can be very crisp and fast given... well any box, but better still when the right box :)

personally i'd go the Pioneer any day. they are total head turners, awesome subs, that go loud as all hell.. these have been tested a lot, against things like DD 9917's and aTreo's top sub, and they always end up really recommended on the list. people can never believe that so much power is had from such a small sub.

the pioneer also takes a LOT smaller enclosure than the space hungry DD's..

to tell you the truth.. that exact 5000SPL should have been mine right now, but the postage to WA turned out to be a little out of my budget :(

good luck deciding mate,
Damon

If your DD sub already is so powerful that makes your fluff vibrate, why go bigger and louder? If you wanna damage your internals and eardrums, just jump off a tall building. Its quicker this way.... and cheaper. lol

Personally i think its a waste of money to upgrade what you have. Seriously, how much louder can you go? You would never drive around with it blasted at 100%
