Simple question..
What injector cleaner do you recommend for a 98 TF?
If that doesn't smooth it out (its not overly rough) then I'll go for a full clean.
Any issues with running injector cleaner with premium ULP?

how did you go with the ultrasonic cleaner? Was it a small one that you can buy from tricky dickie.
I heard that holdens top end cleaner is the best for cleaning injectors, and that was from a ford site!

To clean injectors either ultrasonic clean or atleast us a proper onboard injector cleaning system.
Don't waste your time and money with fix it in a bottle rummish.
Do not forget to give your throttle body a good clean as well as this is often the cause for rough idle etc

i disagree. i don't think an ultrasonic is necessary at all. in fact, i think it's a waste of money. a good bottle of injector cleaner would do more than enough to clean the injectors of the deposits. if you need ultrasound to get rid of that much deposits, your injectors were prob never ever maintained. remember to floor the gas abit when you put in the injector cleaner. the high fuel pressure together with the cleaner works well

i'll leave the 10 paragraph explanation of injectors to someone more technical. but basically they spray out a pressurised mist of petrol and mixed with air outside the cylinder (for non-GDI engines), intake valves open, those things go in and wham they are exploded by the spark from the spark plugs inside the cylinder.
the injectors get clogged up over time with deposits from petrol (even water nozzles get clogged mind you) and that's why it's good to get them cleaned every once in a while. actually if you floor the pedal quite a bit, there isn't a real need to clean those injectors cos the higher pressure spray gets rid of most of the deposits :D
btw, common off-the-shelf injector cleaners cost between $8-$15. i don't know the reason why but i always feel the engine is smoother and more responsive whenever i put those cleaners in. but it returns to normal by the time the next tank of petrol goes in. i wonder why :?:

hahaha
yeh i put some in yesterday (wynns) as i am getting some pretty crappy km's atm (max 470km) (Re: Poll - 3rd Gen)
seems alright so far, and i think i feel some better response. but we'll see how we go.

alf77 i will most likely start a big arguement but have you heard of a thing called carbon, the hardest known substance to man.
I hve personally seen the resuts of 100000km old injectors properly cleaned and the spray patterns changed. My old verada was stalling and very underpowered, cleaned the injectors, did absolutly nothing else, the idle had to be screwed back down from 2500rpm????
I will keep with my theory, bottle in the tank is ok for getting rid of water in a tank but that is all.
Good luck with that throttle in a bottle mate, oh by the way I have a great product here, they use it in the big red car, instant 500bhp at the rear wheels even in a front wheel drive, only $11.95 per bottle.

How about Injector Cleaner in a bottle equates to regualr use prevents carbon build up slower...
Ultrasonic equates to if your car is really $#^$& coz u never use the injector cleaner?

no need to start an argument mad. we're all here for friendly information. you already said it, OLD verada. if you've read my post properly, you'd have realised i was saying ultrasonic cleaning of injectors is only for when your injectors are f*****. if you maintained the injectors regularly, there's never a real need to use ultrasonic cleaning.
one more thing, don't talk physics and engineering with me buddy. i know my stuff

There is no need to clean F***** injectors you replace them. All injectors get carbon build up on them and "Throttle ina bottle" will not stop this. I am Bosh and Petroject certified so I think I should know. Add to this the workings of an injector is only complex if you do not know how they work.
An injector is simply an electronic tap. There is a solonoid that is activated for a few milliseconds to allow fuel under high pressure spray out. when carbon starts to build up on the injector the spray turns in to a drip and the fuel no longer atomises properly. Fuel gum will clean with some in tank bottles however every 80 - 100000km there should be a proper clean
