My centre console (behind the aircon cluster and deck on a KH verada) has started ticking more or less everytime I start the car with a period of about 800ms. it stops after about a minute....sometimes mid drive it will start up again. I cannot trace it to a direct operation of the climate control (fans, vents etc) or CD deck.

Has anybody had a similar problem??

yep, in my experience, it would be a fault in one of the motors for the climate control. mitsu can check for codes on the climate control, or, just stick your hand in behind the centre console area, start the car, and feel for the actuator that is "ticking". the part numbers are normally on the actuators.
