just thinking about it, as now i have my green p's and im 'legally' allowed to drive a manual, and i know how, been driving a mate of mines manual CH lancer around so im decent, wouldnt call me a pro manual race car driver shindigidy but yeah, im just curious about a manual conversion, how dificult it would be, how much it would cost me, ive had a little look into it and this is what ive come up with so far - any help would be apreciated.

what i need:

1. Manual gear box,
2. Shifter cables,
3. Manual brake pedal,
4. Clutch pedal,
5. Master cylinder,
6. Clutch fluid/hydrolics(?) reservoir,
7. Clutch
8. Hydrolics line,
9. Manual engine plate,
10. manual starter motor
11. half shaft from manual magna.

any additives? anyone know approx on price? labour time?

now i HAVE used the SEARCH function, thats how ive gotten the information here, but all the threads that i have read have kinda stopped and not finished, which is why im asking now.

cheers,
Tristan

You should be able to get away with using the auto ECU, you'll just need to ground the inhibitor switch pins.

My local mechanic quoted me $500 to swap my autobox, so I'd say you'd be looking at a conservative $1000-$1500.

It wouldn't hurt to get the manual gearbox overhauled, you'd need a new clutch, clutch fluid, and you'll have to lift the engine out to fit the gearbox.

Go to your local Wreckers to get a box, get it when it is the weekly special, you may be able to get it for under $100 if lucky, Then get it overhauled and see if you got some mates and or mates dad's to help out...

geez $100 is alright for a box. Maybe i should just get a run down old auto and do the swap for my project car, autos are way eaiser to find.

so you recon if i go down to the wreckers and rip the guts out of a manual TR (if they've got one) that would be my best bet?
