k i blew up one of my type R 12's the other day, and was thinkin. i have 3 more, and 7
MRV-1507's. now, this is what i was thinking. was gonna only run 2 of the 12's with 4 of the 1507's. like have one bridged 1507 per voice coil. would that be bad? would it improve sound? any info or thoughts appreciated.

if youve got access to an oscolliscope and relevent tuning equipment its doable.. but either way its risky. you need 100% identical signals, with no delay, and exactly the same power from both amps powering each sub.

if one amp fails or spasms and lets out some funny signal its ging to hurt the sub, and quite possibly the other amp.

all in all, not recommended :)

whats this oscolliscope thing you speak of? as for the same power and identical signals, i figured that would be a problem.

if u dont know what an oscilloscope is dont bother. U will hurt your subs.

Just use a simple rta to match gains at moderate volume (~under $50 from DickSmith)
What Woob said is correct - you need to ensure they are seeing the same signal ie left or right, in the same phase with the same power,

But in terms of power it doesnt need to be exact exact. There wont be any appreciable delay from using different amps(of the same brand/model)/different length wires (speed of light we're talking about here) But definetly try and match it as close as possible and dont trust whatever angle the gain is on as there is a big margin for error.

Many people do it and although it may be overkill, headroom is always good for your sound as long as you set your gains right. Lower gains will always improve SQ. (as long as you dont need to push ur processors/headunit to distortion)

Just make sure they are both in the same phase, otherwise each voice coil will be working against each other = bad idea.

If one is 'slightly' louder than the other it wont be that bad, speakers are simple machines. But get it as close as possible.
