yeah i noticed last night that ever since i took the heat foam layer of thing off the underside of my bonnet, now it gets really ****n hot, like i put my hand on it last night and if i had of held it there it would have burned, we could have a bbq on my bonnet, steaks sausages, ANYWAY, i was thinkin, instead of putting another one of the heat things on, if i put a scoop on would that,
A: keep the hood (even the engine?) cooler?
B: make it look a bit cooler than it already does
these pics r from Xracing, hope its cool with them that i used it.

Scoop 1: EVO style

I think save your money. Better spent on rims & tyres / suspension.

i could, but im getting the entire car resprayed, so if i chrome up my engine and make it look 1337 then want to show it off - i dont wanna have this black seedy looking cloth attached to the underside of my hood... :P :)

rim and suspension r in on the 27th, this is just body work that i wanna do before respray at the end of the year. :)

Dude that cloth is there for a reason and its not like you drive around with your bonnet up! do whatever engine bay dress ups you want but once done put the cloth back on, and IF you like attend some car show take it off! i wouldnt go with the scoop personally but its up 2 you, your car your money!

just drive faster so more air passes through the engine bay lol

the old one had a huge tear down it and was hanging loose into the engine bay, thats one of the reasons why i got rid of it.

lol at driving faster :P

Yeh and watch how quickly your newly painted bonnet fades without the heatshield.

well i dont want it to fade, thus the reason why i asked, should my engine be getting that hot?

If you had to choose between the scoops then the first one is the go. But the best option is to put the heat stuff back where it belongs.

Hang on... you own a vehicle which is propelled by an internal combustion engine and you're wondering why your bonnet is getting hot after you've remove the heat shield?

My engine bay gets really hot too. Can feel it on the gaurds etc when stopping after a long drive. It was the first thing I noticed about the car when I first got it nine years ago. A lot different from the sigma. I don't think you have any problems there; it's normal.

My bonnet lining has fallen apart too. I just cut away the hanging stuff with scissors and left the rest there. :D

yeah but should it be getting THAT hot? eg. radiator fluids? something like that? just wondering if it could mean there is a problem with the engine to be making it that hot, i knew it would get hotter without the sheild, but not that hot.

cool, thats what i was wondering :)

Is your engine hot to touch after it's been running? Well correct me if i'm wrong here but the engine sits VERY closely to the bonnet, and in such a tight space where alot of the air can't move, heat transfer would be pretty darn common. This is what the heatshielding does, absorbs the heat and prevents it getting to the bonnet.
I mean a bonnet will be pretty warm to touch on most cars even with heat shielding, but without, and yes cutting away the bits hanging down will explain why your bonnets are heating up.

Yep.....Put the shielding back on man....even if it does look POV for the time being

so you recon a scoop, say scoop 1 the evo bonnet one, would help with that at all? or pointless? if pointless then **** it ill just get another head shield :)

Well it can't hurt, it will probably help a little bit, but i couldn't imagine it totally fixing the problem as there would be hotspots all over the engine bay.

what if i got the evo bonnet grills, then put the head shield on but cut holes in the shield so that air could either flow into or out of the bonnet grills? could work?

You mean fully heatshield except for where the scoops are? That'd work the best.

How are your head sheilds falling apart, the one on my first get looks like it is new!

Anyway, head sheild and either scoop 3 or some nostrils.

I voted scoop 2 only because if you HAVE to get one its the best :)
But i'm telling you now, get a new heat sheild because when you paint starts to bubble and crack you will be pissed!!!
