Can anyone reccomend a reputable auto trans service place that is good with Magnas nigglies in the Sydney area? When it comes to servicing a tranny, i admit defeat.
I've noticed an increasing problem with my TS 4cyl auto whereby it really needs to be belted in order to get the trans to kickdown from 3rd into 2nd. So the majority of slowdowns without stopping and takeoff again (ie - going around a corner) the trans will just stay in 3rd gear. If I manually shift it back into 2nd while accelarating, it's not a very smooth change and kinda clunks a little.

3rd to 2nd shift under acceleration should be firm, but should be smooth if your not applying throttle.
sounds like the TPS is out of adjustment or not servicable (ie. needs replacement), or incorrect fluid level.

as for the trans staying in third, etc... sounds like the TPS is out of adjustment or not servicable (ie. needs replacement), or incorrect fluid level.

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking about replacing the TPS but now I definitely will. I cleaned out the tps and throttle recently to try and give it a smoother idle but it didn't have any effect. it's getting a bit skanky and the rubber boot is all split as well. Where is a good place to get a new one with the rubber boot??
