ok now i did a search and a page by page look but didn't find out what i wanted.
now in the next week or so im gonna be driving down to nsw to visit family and then back up for mmo6 and more family.
now so the 2 kids in the back don't drive me nuts im going to buy a portable dvd player, and i also want to bring the playstation 2 .
can any one tell me what i need to power it. now keep in mind i dont want to install it just keep it portable for home , camping, road trips etc etc. Is there some kind of power converter i can buy that plugs into the ciggy lighter to power the playstation ?

What you will need to run the PS2 is a power inverter and of course inputs on the dvd player you are buying so you can see and hear the ps2
Dick smith have for sale at the moment a 300w Power inverter that connects to your ciggy lighter this is AMPLE amount of power to run a playstation and it's i think 79 or 89 bux very easy i have a 150 watt inverter and thats does my laptop adn my ps2 at the same time :)
Hope this helps mate

Yep the inverter is probly the easiest way and is useful for other shtuff too, watch it when the cars not running though as they can be a bit of a current drag.
Give us a yell if ya need a place to crash on the way through or any help on the way. :D

Do you think that would power an xbox ?
Ol' Fart

Should do, have a look on the xbox, it should have a power consuption rating on it.
It'll say something like 80W or whatever, then you check the "continuos rating" of the inverter to see if it will power it.
Inverters have 2 ratings, peak and continuous, the peak is what it can give in a short burst and the cont is the one that tells you what it can really power.
As long as that rating is higher than the power consumption yur OK.
Remember they are a fair current drain so dont use em for long if the car aint running...MMkay:D

I'd also be a little worried running it from the cig lighter, that's a huge power drain from such a little wire.
