Hey folks, thought I'd post up a little mod I did today. I've always loved the american style orange parkers and so figured out a way to do it to my car. I'm not sure on the legalities of it but I have seen Land Rovers and Volvos with them. The only possible legal issue I can see is that because the indicator and the parker are within in the same assembly, the indicator has the flash brighter than the parker to be noticed. It does. Nevertheless, in 5 minutes you can have it returned to the normal setup for rego etc.

1) Bought a pair of orange T10 parker globes from Big W for only $2.90.

1) I removed the parker from the headlight assembly and extended the wire by about 20cm so it would reach over to the indicator assembly.

2) I then removed the indicator assembly and drilled a hole into the side of it just ahead of the assembly's inner orange thing where the indicator globe goes.

3) Placed the parker into the hole and refitted the indicator assembly.

Here's the results.

And this is for those who may have thought I simply took a photo in sync with the indicator flash.:P

Personally, I think it looks awesome and really suits it.

If you like it thats all that matters.

Not my cup of Tea but its summin different so that makes it different.

i also wonder what the legalities of it would be?
because i am pretty sure you have to have proper park lights?

Orange parkers are illegal. Volvos etc have white parkers and amber position indicators on
the side of the cars (much like the side reflectors of the veradas but lit). They are used for
long vehicles to give it side presence at night (like trucks, busses etc)

I figured as much. I could always get a set of parkers from a wrecked magna, and split them off to the headlight assembly. Therefore, I could have my the standard parkers and orange position lamps. However, having the position lamps within the indicator assembly would still make it illegal. It's a shame though because I really like it.:(

The front end outline lights (ie. parkers) on some landrovers are orange actually.

The easiest way to do this would also be to use a dual filament bulb - ie. a 21/5 for brake lights.

As for legality - I would think you would need to have a look at the relavent ADR's - may be legal on pre 1995 vehicles IIRC.
