readin thru some of the old posts ... i c that the fitting of lukey mufflers are now hidden away, towards the front of the car.

is it possible to keep the muffler in the original location? this is y i am kind of reluctant to get a lukey atm.

maybe Slayer/DaJaJa can answer this?

Any good exhaust place will do it how and where you want it.

If you tell them you want it "THERE" then thats where they will mount it.

The weld on version is about the same size of the original one. The bolt on IS smaller!

hey sola|2a,

I didnt get the LR2779 muffler that everyone else has... I got instead the Lukey UltraFlow muffler. The size of this muffler is much smaller than the factory magna ones, about half the size.. thats why it is so small. THe LR2779 is about the same size as the factory magna muffler.

you can request to position the muffler where you want, ie:towards the rear bumper.
I didnt really care where the muffler was positioned so long it wasnt going to hang low...thats all...

I did this at carline mufflers if you wanted to know...

would that answer everything?? :D :D

You like the look of seeing the tip hanging straight off the muffler pack?

I do too but it won't look so poxy / humble on my car once it has it's rear bar swapped and tip installed.

thx DaJaJa ... the reason i asked was because i prefer to have a droop tip rather than a straight one... those that curve down vertically at a 45 degree angle :p and it would only look decent with the muffler visible ... something identical to this would be perfect!

but then if i was to get the AL4-5597 then i dunno what the options are for the tip... :?

Well, you can still stick whatever tip you want on there but as you said, the droopy one wouldn't work very well. I prefer the straight ones :p

i thought u will have to pay extra for the tip :p

My bolt on muffler was $150 and I fitted it with a mate. Real easy. Just attaches with hangers to where the stock unit fits. No tip.

I'll post an under the car shot if you like.

Hope that rust or whatever it is isn't a bad sign. I thought this stuff shouldn't rust. Isn't it supposed to be stainless steel?

Where the welding is, its probably been Blued.. (if you know what that means) to stop rust etc etc.

Well, wasn't like that when I fitted it 4 months ago.

and yes it does look small... how the hell am i suppose to get a droop tip on that :?

I'll have a closer look at it in sunlight on the weekend. The only problem the pipe gave was when I back out of our driveway at work and banged it on the ground. Now the pipe bangs against the cross member where it goes over it. Only shows up on rough roads, reasonable bumps and when the car shudders. I'll be getting it looked at next service and when the headers go on.

That's the bolt on muffler. The weld on is a longer unit which is slightly quieter and looks like the VR-X and Sports, from what I understand. So, a droopy tip should be fine with that one. That's the LRwhatever model.
