hey ive been a reader for a while now but rarely ever post
im about to purchase myself a ralliart and im wondering if stanard mods to it are justified like is it worth replacing the standrad exhaust and headers with aftermarkets ones and stuff like that?
im looking at keeoing the car looking stock so i dont want to dump it and put big rims on it
im just looking at what is worth doing to it and if there are any downfalls in the car

Check my profile. It's strictly a guide, not gospel, BUT... At the QMD (qld magna division) dyno day there were 2 manual Ralliarts, one stock, one with 2.5" exhaust and extractors. Stock one dyno'd 171HP, one with exhaust and extractors dyno'd 186HP. Those figures are at the wheels. Wether you're getting a manual or auto, the basic breathing mods do make a fair difference to the way the car performs and drives.

Common problems may include; Front and rear windscreen seals. Rear shocks. Fuel sender. That's about it really.

Ive had my cd player replaced (power cuts out, and yes, it does play CDRs burn music @ 16x max :D )
stacker replaced (mechanical jam)
Rear windscreen seal replaced (check for any vibrations and noises)
front left speaker replaced (make sure no one has cranked it)
Passenger air bag cover replaced (warping)
These are just some things to look out for mate. All of this was replaced under warranty. for Ralliarts, the end of the new car warranty is about to run out. So make sure these things pass the test.
They are good cars, excellent to drive, just some have more to fix than others.
Hope you can get black, i wanst able to
Goodluck!

They did. It's called a "splitter" Most people take them off because they scrape on everything!

what went wrong with the rear shocks?
Mine just lost all their gas or something. They started making a clunking noise when I'd go over bumps, so I replaced them.

does any clunking noise mean shock problem?

Hard to tell without hearing the noise myself first hand. Best bet would be to get them looked at by a suspension place.

Currently my fuel gauge is doing something funny. Driving around mainly on the highway, I've noticed the gauge drops faster than usual but after a while it goes back to where it's suppose to be. I've had the fuel sender unit changed about 2 years ago. So not sure if it's the fuel sender unit again or the gauge. Will have to go to Mitsubishi and find out.

Sounds like the sender again. Good thing it's not expensive.

I'm pretty sure they replace the seals on the spoiler normally.. But hey.. no complaints to a new spoiler!

Just out of curiosity, how do you guys know that there is water in there? Can you see it leaking out, or just hear it sloshing about when you shake the bootlid? And is it noticeable at all while driving?
Rall!art
15-11-2006, 03:36 AM
I think it's the sloshing sound when u open up the boot

if its still under new car warranty (as mine is/was) demand a brand new spoiler and demand its fitted by a panel beater...
mitsu attempted to fit my brand new spoiler themselves twice.. both times the spoiler didnt sit flush with the boot... i refused to let them have a 3rd go so they paid for a panel beater to do the job and its now perfect

turns out there is a rework campaign for this issue. it involves removal and resealing the spoiler.

Get them to check the front and rear windscreen seals, all the suspension, gearbox and if you still have the stock exhaust, get them to check that too for cracks in the welds.

better to check for these things yourself, then go and point them out to mitsu and demand they are fixed, otherwise they will just say, yeah its fine.... nothing wrong with it. after friday its not there problem anymore.

how did u know ur ambient air sensor faulty? there's quite a few things wrong with ur ralliart i noticed. Hope they don't all go on mine especially my warranty has finished.
even if ur exhaust is dying, i don't they have any more ralliart exhausts in supply anywhere as cos i had the problem fairly recently. i wonder if they use aftermarket products for warranty jobs for that. do they choose what u get or do u choose what u want and they pay?

Yeah that's what I meant, sorry. He should check for them, then point them out to Mitsubishi.

You'd have to take that up with Mitsubishi, but I'd imagine they'd get a local exhaust place to do the job to the specification of what it was. You might be able to haggle and get a different system if you wanted I guess.
