Hey all.
So. I was playing in my car, as you do, and i opened up the interior light (the one in the middle of the roof). And being the tinkerer I am, i pulled out the bulb to have a look. When i went to put it back in I got a rather large spark.
Anyway, now I have some serious issues with my electrics. Interior light will not work at all. "door open" indicator on the dash does not light when a door is open. Remote locking will not respond to button presses (though the boot button works). Speed alert display is stuck on 60 and when you press up or down it flashes off then on again and remains at 60.
Head/tail lights, hazard lights, head unit, cluster lights all work fine.
When I turn the key to the ON position i hear a grinding/crunching/clicking kind of noise from the engine bay for about 2 seconds then it stops.
At the same time, my aftermarket alarm which i know very little about (was installed by prev. owner), activates and goes off, but very quietly (?!?!!).
The car still starts, idles, and drives OK.
I'm thinking blown fuse? Could that be responsible for all of these problems?

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Yeah I initially thought it might be the immobiliser, but wouldn't that just automatically shut the engine off straight after it started?? It started and drove fine, Idle was fine at about 1000rpm...
I'll check all the fuses tomorrow.

This is my experiance with an interior light. I was replacing the interior light (the one on the roof) in my mums car. When i put it in, it started to spark and smoke up.
I panicked so the first thing i did was grab the closest thing to me ( a screw driver) and started stabbing the globe untill it broke. Not only did i break the globe, i broke the whole plastic bit that holds the globe in and the little switch that turns it on or off.
Needless to say, my mum was pissed. I dont know what it is with me and lights

Actually, my interior light doesn't work and I don't think it's the bulb. My rear right door doesn't register as being open when you open it. This means that when you unlock the car and open that door, the car will lock itself thinking that the car hasn't had a door opened. Haven't been bothered to checking fuses. Probably should think about adding engine oil too as it's at the bottom mark :bowrofl:

OK, found the problem. Was just the interior light fuse in the engine bay was blown. Had a bit of trouble getting that f!#&* yellow thing off, eventually realised it was so it could easily be pulled up easily so the interior light bulb could be changed. But yeah, just one fuse.
To think i was beginning to think I'd have to take it to an auto electrician... they would have charged me $30 to change that 20 cent fuse, now i can just do it myself.

lol yeah oil is pretty useful for engines.. and yeah i'd check the interior light fuse, its number 19, a 15 amp, located in the engine bay.
