The same thing happens in my brother's KE. Is your steering REALLY light?
We haven't really tracked it down, but I've got a feeling that it's either the steering rack or pump... Either way it'll probably be expensive...

Same problem in my first gen, tighten up the belt that connects your engine to the power steering pump.
There is a little pulley called a tightner.

had pedders tell me that one when i got a suspension check and they said the steering was loose and there was knocking in the movement, hence i needed a new steering rack ($730)
all bull**** of course, i had 2 ppl check it and the steering is fine, but that could be your porblem.
Don't fully lock the steering wheels with power steering. It damages the pump. Your pump
may be on the way out.
