1) Limits the gear the transmission is currently in to that gear. L = 1st.
2) To do a burnout and destroy your diff, but meh who cares it's fully sick:
- Rip up the hand brake
- Drop down to L
- Moving the steering wheel slightly to the right
- Flaw the *****
If that doesn't work then whack some oil/water under the rims and away you go.

L = Cattle work. You need this gear to assist herding the moo cows around the paddock and not go too fast and bump into them.
2 = 1 gear higher than L but 1 less than 3
3 = 1 gear more than 2, 2 more than L but 1 less than D. This one still moves the car forward though.
D = Duffer. This gear is for those too stupid like me to change gears.
N = Not forwards or backwards. This is the gear where you decide which direction you want to go.
R = Sends maggie backwards. Watch out for school kids and people under your back wheels in the driveway.
P = Holds maggie still so you can go to the shops and stuff.
Hope this helps with your first question.

guys he did specify that they were silly questions!!
No.1 L is 1st, 2 is 2nd, 3 3rd, D 4th
No.2 yes you should be able to make your tyres smoke, you may need some water to help you though!!

back to the first question, i was just thinking, this isn't a silly question, it's a stupid question. How the hell did you get your license and not know that? That very thought alone scares me and makes me wonder if anyone else on the road doesn't have a clue...

Yeh it was quite scary to hear someone doesnt know what L,2,3 are meant for. lol
maybe he doesnt have his license yet and is wanting to know for future reference, that would explain why he asked if the auto could do a burnout!! hahaha :bowrofl:

Youngens that only care about whether or not their car can do burnouts anger me greatly...especially in a magna

Its OK, because they do the burnout in the wrong place and get caught and then the Magna becomes property of the government so....the universe has a way of evening itself out.

Give him a break guys. He's embarassed enough about asking the questions in the first place the last thing he needs is you lot getting all high and mighty about it.
If he wants to chew his tyres up doing a burn out, then good for him, but for all you know his mate might have woken up one morning and said "you can't do a burn out in that pile of crap" so he came here to find out.
Kudos to those who answered the questions helpfully. The rest of you should find something better to do than paying out a new member.

Hey, both times we did it we had more people in the car than they did aswell lol
I drove the XR6, that thing was heavy as though. Comfy, but VERY heavy.
NOTE: All this was done on private property, no street racing.
