im putting in an AMP and it would be helpful to know where i can access battery through the firewall, and where is the 12V accesorys power, or can i just splice the head units 12V accessory? if i put amp all on 12V battery, will it still be on when car is off?

There's a rubber grommet directly in the middle of the firewall, towards the bottom of the car right behind the centre console. You should be able to see it if you get down on your knees and look up towards the center. By far the easiest way to do it :).

yep as maddog said just get a screwdriver down by the passenger side footwell and poke it through the rubber grommet. this is how i did both bretts and mine amps
its in a hell of an annoying spot but it works good, its what i used :)
you need to pull down the carpet from the passenger footwell, remove the side of the center console + the metal bracket.
then look towards the center of the firewall and youll see a white thing that looks like a cricket box that protects your crotch, unscrew this (i couldnt access 1 of the bolts easily so i undid the closest one, then bent it out of the way.
behind it is the firewall, push your coathanger up through it, pull some of it through the engine bay until its in a convenientspot
now get out some decent tape (i use electrical or duct), and tape your power cable to the end of it tightly, then smother the bulgey bit, and some of the power cable, in a lube of your choice (i use KY Jelly).
now go back intot he car and pull carefull until you can grab the power cable (a bit annoying because its covered in lube!)
route through the rest of your car!
enjoy!
and in regards to the accessory wire.. cant remember what colour it is.. but if you get a multimeter, its just a matter of testing each wire with the key set to 'accessory', then eliminate the ones that show a voltage by testing them with the key off..
which every one has voltage when your set to 'accessory', and shows no voltage with the key off, is the accessory! :)
dont run the remote n wire for the amp with a direct 12v source, itll drain your battery while the car is off.

Damon

yep all working fine bass is good :) bit of a rattle though :( (not the number plate)
$hit $hit $hit, im gonna run down to the garage and unplug it then! btw 800w AMP.ok 96'TE altera, it doesnt have power antenna, without buying a multimeter, r there anyways i can find the accessory power? who has same car? how long will i take to drain the battry?

the rattle is the heat sheild for the rear muffler, and aslong as u hooked up to the remote connection on the HU then all is good otherwise should take a while to drain battery

You need a test light that runs off 12v DC. Put you car on ACC, test which wires have power and make a note. Turn car off, if a wire has lost power, it's only on when acc are on.

For which wire? The power wire or remote wire? If remote wire that's ok, the headunit should have a remote wire anyway but hooking that into the ACC will be ok.
If you mean power then YES, it will seriously **** things up. You'll blow fuses, melt wires, very dangerous.

isnt the remote wire 12V,
i mean, strip the head units remote wire and soldering the AMP remote wire to that. is OK?
just want to be sure, head unit was $300
thanks for help :)

Yes that's what you're suppose to do lol. I thought you meant splice the amps remote terminal/wire into the ACC wire for the headunit, which instead of the amp turning on when the HU is on the amp would turn on when you put the keys in the ignition and switch to acc/on.
*EDIT*
Yes the remote wire is 12v, but it only has a very very very small current rating.

OK LETS GET STARTED:)
yep opened that sucker up and..... where the hell is the remote wire? ok ok. i got manual... it says there are 13 wires and its the one with the blue and white stripe....argh! only 12 wires!. this book must be fcuked or its missing a wire. i guess i could hook AMP up to antenna wire?
At the moment, before going out i gotta open up boot and connect wires, then after parking a gotta unplug them.

lol then your amp would only turn on when you had the radio on :P.
It'll be there mate, just check all the wires for the colour co-ordinating, you might be missing one you don't really need. If it genuinely is missing, there should still be a socket for it. Worst case scenario you have to solder a wire into the socket.

Nah wont stuff up mate, just means that your amp will turn on when your car is on acc, which most of the time you'd have your hu on anyway so it doesn't really matter. Only thing is it'll be on even if you take the hu face plate off, but it wouldn't draw barely any current from the battery.
