Hi There,

I did a search for this info' but there were 20 pages of results and that's waayyy to much reading  I started reading but 7 pages in my head exploded :doubt: No just joking... it was only 5 pages in :bowrofl:

Anyway, back to reality... I have recently brought a '95 V3000 (Verada for you Ozzys) for parts. Can anyone tell me if I can use the ECU? The ECU in my car is a:
MD186459
E2T39174
3119

The parts car has a:
Mitsubishi Part No AW335192
Bosch Part No 9 260 060 041
GEXP
47212 (a sticker on the side)

Are these interchangable? Both engines are SOHC 6G72 Autos. The insides look very similar (if not exactly the same). The reason I ask is that my ECU looks as though it has been repaired at some stage. It's never missed a beat but it may be nice to have a back up just in case.

OK, I don't mind being rejected

They should be interchangeable without a problem, as any ECU pins without inputs should be ignored by the ECU.

The only thing I could think of that may be different is the software. What years are both cars?

mine is a '93 and the parts car is a '95 (parabolics :D )

Should be ok, as both motors are the same. Plug it in and see how it goes...

quick question

to reset the ecu do u just undo one of the cables connected to the battery? with a spanner ?

when re-connecting can it spark/blow fuses ?

or should it be alright?

Yeah, just dissconect either lead and make sure nothing is turned on when you put it back on. Easy.:D

I think I've read that whilst the cable is disconnected, turn the key to fully on for a bit, this'll (supposedly) drain any residual power that might be lying around. No harm either way I guess (unless you forget to turn the key off again:D )

Ahh well I did it anyway, left it unplugged while we speak and will put it back on tommorow or tonight

hopefully I see some changes, as advised by magna buff my transmission oil is red and I have all gears except first - he said its the TPS - and to disconnect battery

The TPS is only about a year old
