Hi all,

Just thinking of sticking in a roller cam from a 2nd gen TS magna into a 1st gen TP magna. It seems there's a bit of a mixed indication of what to expect from the change, but as far as I know it's a fairly simple change that should help a bit with performance and economy. Nobody has really mentioned what disadvantages there might be from such a change though. Any thoughts? :dancin:

AFAIK Stamga recently done this, you should drop him a PM.

Yeah I have been in contact with Stagma - but I'm just curious if anybody else has had any issues with the modification... The car runs well atm, but it does seem like a worthy change that can have many advantages - just hopefully few disadvantages.

there probably wont be many disadvantages... roller rokcers were designed to free up a little bit of valve train loss.

disadvantage is if your looking at putting another cam in, cams ground for roller rockers are considerably more expensive.

A reground cam + solid sigma lifter will be more effective than roller rockers.

The Roller Rockers and the 2ng gen cam made a world of difference to Stagma's car, I've driven it before and after, I'd recommend it to any EFi 1st gen owner, carby guys I'd say get a better cam, sigma lifters, better carb and your laughing.

So the majority say that the ts cam works well in a tp motor, I will be cosidering this as i already have the m6 head with the original hydraulic lifters and cam and the lifters are starting to wear and intermiterly rattle which really p,s me off, so i was thinking of the roller rockers to solve this.

Thanks for all the info everyone :)

Things have been too busy lately for me to really try the changeover, but I'm hoping that once uni calms down a little I'll be able to give it a try and see the difference.

It sounds like there really aren't any problems changing the cam and rockers over, and the advantages sound quite significant. I don't have heaps of experience working in the engine yet, but this sounds like something that is relatively easy to do (especially with the help of forums!). I'll give it a go sometime soon and let ya know the difference

Currently the car is running absolutely perfectly, about as well as it can with mainly stock parts i guess, so if there is any change in performance, fuel economy or anything, it will hopefully be obvious hehe :)

Thanks all,
Dave

I have some roller rockers here, and a cam to suit, I would have to ask dad if he still wants them, if not they can be sold.
