well, as the title says, does anyone know how hard it would be to fit climate control to a model that doesnt have it standard?

well, mainly can it be done, and what would be needed?

thanks in advance.

I looked into it for a first gen and I ended up buying another car with it fitted so I could get all the controls, sensors and wiring loom.

Its not just a plug in jobby but its doable...:D

It has been done at the MMAL plant here by engineers on one of their tinkering cars... One of the first things I asked my old man when I got my Altera. Apparently though, it's a HUGE job and more trouble than it's worth. Need to install all the temperature sensors etc and something else, I forget the name, at each vent.

Now this is for a commodore, but im guessing it'd sort of be same sort of thing to do it to a magna? it'd be interesting to hear from someone who has done it though so we know for sure

You will needs *lots* of things!

Complete HVAC box from a car with climate
Outside temp sensor + wiring
LCD module + wiring
Sensor Pack?? + wiring (The bit that goes below the factory deck)
Sensor in the cover underneath window wipers
New tweeter covers with sunlight sensor

I'm sure there are alot more things as well....

Auto cut off things... cuts off the vents to the outside world.

i really wanna do this to my car.... but instead of full climate controll.... can i use the controlls and operate the temp manually??? see what im getting at??

Ill just stick with the ac button, hot or cold knob, and direction of air knob :D

plus climate control would weigh more more weight = slower magna

Hehe, the weight would be close to insignificant.

yes but it all adds up in the end i know people that keep half a tank of fuel in thier car no more cause they reccon it is slower for drag racing lol stupid i know

Sorry to say but give up - it's been priced before at over $800.

And for the record they don't work as intended half the time anyway - they seem to only have two settings - eskimo or taliban

hmmm that probably about what i was expecting actually.... dunno if its worth it to get the cool display (mainly coz i wanna change the whole dash illumination to red)

i put led's in the std thingy now, looks good.... there are only 3 of them.... but i wanna loose the dials!!

plus i have an in dash 7" 2din headunit... and the climate will look heaps better with this than the stock dials will

yeah double-din touch screen headunit here too, so the whole dash section would look way less cluttered

Mine works fine 100% of the time. :)

thread mine :D

just wondering, if i can post up circuit diagrams, can anyone read them?

still interested in adding climate control, surely i could find most of it at a wreckers for a decent price, just wanna know what i'll need

I can help with the circuits, what do you want to know?

I already have the Magna circuits give me a PM if ya like.

Yes. Well documented in online reviews. Plus my TJ 1.5 VR-X is just as you say.

i'm mainly after a parts list, i was thinking a circuit diagram would be the easiest to track what part number etc are different?
