View Full Version : 380 Numbers Ok
Sales of the Mitsubishi 380 are tracking close to production output at the carmaker's Adelaide factory. After the "right sizing" of the workforce at Tonsley Park and a price and product push, monthly sales are running at more than a 1000 cars. Mitsubishi says September has started well, but it is worried by another round of negative press report's about a possible plant closure. There's nothing to say. We dont have a plan to close the factory or cease production at Tonsley Park. We're ahead of our year to-date plan. Mitsubishi Australia's Kevin Taylor say's.

very interesting, but I havent seen very many 380's here in Vic
I've seen maybe one or two thats about it, but at their current prices and good looks I can see them becoming more popular
Too bad there value will decrease quickly
If I had the money I would get one, very nice looking cars, good features , economy etc
I'm a fan of these

*** ABC.. they started this stupid investigative unit thingy on MMAL about Phoenix and so on. They started it and now i dislike the ABC completely, now i will watch 7 all the time.
Other then the negative press all sounds well. If they are running at capacity with there current workforce hopefully that means that they will have to increase production if sales increase.

Good to see some positive media attention for a change, sick of hearing the usual "MMAL are closing down" speech. They've been saying it since before the TE was released.....i'm still waiting....

Yeah so much for the ABC's media credibility. I wonder if Mediawatch will cover the ABC's so-called "investigative" unit's missive attempt at reporting. Further hindering their credibility is the recent botched reports on AFL coaches which most notably lacked any investigation - the ABC did not attempt to contact the persons involved to, say, ensure there was a sentila of truth.
Also good to see, on the same page, the new mainstream Lancer due 3rd qtr 2007 will share the same body/styling cues to the Evo X concept. The current picture we're all familiar with is of the hatch version which won't appear till 2008. The sedan for next year doesn't look as dynamic, but at least it shares similar styling. Can't wait.

I dunno where they are selling these 1000 cars per month. In Sydney, I'm lucky to see one 380 in a week and trust me, I keep my eyes open for them! I've seen more new model Commodores on the road in the last week than I've seen in a month of 380's and the new 'Commondore' has only been out a few weeks!

Yeh hate to say it but i've seen more VE's this week then i have 380's. But we all knew the commodore would sell well no matter what, just because it is a commodore.

I see at least 5 380's just going into my local town. I've seen 3 VE's on the roads so far.

I'm surprised to read that some of you have seen more VE's than 380's, though I guess it comes down to opportunity, because at the current point of time more 380's have been sold since october last year than ve commodores
Total 380's sold as at end of August 06 = 12,188
Total VE's sold as at end of August 06 = 2,600
I estimate around 1,000 380's have been sold so far this month, and around 4,500 VE's.
Every day I'd say I see around 3 380's driving around metropolitan Melbourne, and about 1 VE every 2 days. I've seen more new Camry's than VE's, which is interesting.

yikes with those numbers the ve will catch up in a matter of 2-3 months
I've only seen 3 VEs on the road since the launch. Two were bronze coloured SS with the
huge ugly looking wheel arch flares and one was the silver coloured base model, and I do
over 400kms a week along the North/South corridor.
I've only seen two new camrys. Don't like the buldge at the front at all. Looks like a rhino.

i see TONNES of 380's all the time... would have to see about 3-5 every time i go for a drive i reckon! but i guess thats what happens living in SA, VE's have been popping up more and more.. i know of a couple in my town (one owned by the owner of the holden dealer) but went for a drive thru mawson lakes yesterday and seen at least 3 or 4 parked outside houses (including one guy giving it the most thorough clean ive ever seen!)

It's nothing for me to see at least 2 or 3 380's in a trip to/from work...
Problem is I haven't really investigated into how the VE's look like (just another Commodore? [shrug]) but from the cars that I think are the VE's I don't see as many... this is travelling from Blacktown -> Frenchs Forest daily

Easy just look for a vectra with slightly larger wheel arches at a distance, then as it gets closer you'll realise its a little bit too big to be a vectra lol

Some investigative reportors are a** holes. They don't care who gets hurt as long as they
get their story out and make money on it. Bad unfounded rumours have been known to
destroy individuals and companies.

I doubt the ABC just reported rumours - they probably did find an exit strategy report - but then again that may have been all it was. Perhaps they were hoping they had the scoop.

I don't think I'm getting too upset (though can't speak on behalf of others), just matter-of-fact. Whilst it's up to the individual whether to believe it or not, fact is their report was and is presently unfounded (just speculation without hard facts or evidence), and you should know it's not the first time the ABC has gone overboard in denigrating MMAL. They have alot to answer for.

Na man I'm not upset at all. I just completely hate the ABC now. Do me a favour, go to google news search and type "Mitsubishi 380" and look at the results. You will notice most of he stories are ABC links all relating to closing of Tonsley Park and MMAL stating they have no intentions. The about the tax $$$$ going into every 380, please!!! The ABC is also government funded, and I don't watch the ABC so why should my pennies go into the ABC? I personally don't see the point, and if it wasn't for the government the ABC would probably not be afloat.
Anyway.. Speaking of 380's I have seen atleast 10 - 15 today, and I've only driven around for like 30 mins max. Living in SA I spoze the ratio of 380's vs. other cars is probably higher then compared to other states. I didn't see a single VE Commodore today, which is rare. I also seen a new BMW 5 Series wagon.. which I hadn't seen before.

It's weird ... I saw a black 380 the other day...
"damn, that's hot" I thought to myself...
But when I see other colour 380's, I look at it...
"where the hell did MM go wrong?!"
Plus, I saw a Sunburst Orange (that's the best way of describing the shade) this is _exactly_ the shade!! (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40610)
TW Magna the other day and thought it was the absolute sex, but when I look at White / Red / Blue TW's, I can't believe they went that way.
What's with that?!
[edit: was TW released as a VRX? [edit in edit: question answered, i just saw a thread called "just bought a tw vrx :bowrofl: :bowrofl:]]
