howdy,
helping a mate out on a magna and i need help on something, the tie rod end got bent blahblah.. so i need to replace it, ive got a new one ready to put in.
so far i have removed the tie rod end from the car im just left with removing the actual tie rod from the steering rack, the new rod has 2 flat spots on the end so that you have something to grab on to undo or do up how ever the factory one just seems to be fully rounded and there’s nothing to get a grab on to unscrew

so basically what’s the best way to unscrew it??, im also a little confused on how they actually screw it on there from factory

anyway any help will be appreciated

thanks

A big set of multigrips is what I've always used. I dont think you can get anything else onto it.

It will be really tight to crack initially. I've had one before that was tight all the way out and had to clean up the thread in the rack before putting the new one in.

Good luck.

ok thanks for the help guys its all fixed up now
we ended up just chiseling the old on till we could get the first crack of movement, then used some tuff multigrips to undo it from the top of the engine bay ( it was a 3rd gen for thos playing at home)
the hardest part seemed to be putting the new one on as there is barly any room to tighten it and we could only do a few rotations at a time with the multigrips and it was very tight to do up ended up taking like 2hours to fully screw in lol
but yeh tow in alignment asap

thanks again!
