Okay so I had problems starting the enhgine today. It would kick over, then die out. Even when it didn't die, it would drop below 500RPM when I stopped the car in traffic. But I have that fixed.

However, whenever I switch the Air Conditioning on, the engine dies. I don't know what going on. It doesn't seem to be able handle the load. Perhaps it is fuel pump or fuel sender unit. Any ideas please guys?!

Could be the idle speed servo. Do a search on it. There are lots of posts.

yeah theres a screw on the throttle body to adjust the idle, but theres also a setting on the MUT computer thingo that can adjust the "base idle" electronically.

if you take it to a dealer and get them to adjust it should be fine.

I dare say your ICS has popped. Just adjust the idle up screw to compensate, ICS is for the weak and the pregnant.

Reset the ECU lately? I had this same problem a couple of days ago, whenever the engine came to idle it just died.

Basically the ECU electronically controls the air/fuel mix required for keeping the engine at idle, and when you reset it by changing certain fuses, disconnecting the battery etc., it loses its memory and forgets how to do idle.

Long story short, just reset your ECU again (by pulling up and the pushing back down the yellow fuse cradle in your engine bay - stereo & interior light fuses), start your car and leave it to idle for 5-10 mins.

If this doesn't solve your problem, then's the time to try adjusting it using the screw on the throttle body, and probably take it to a mechanic as there may be an underlying issue such as ICS, injectors, whatever.

base idle can't be adjusted using the mutt 3. has the battery been disconnected recently?
clean out the stepper motor and replace the "O" ring with a new one from mitsu spares, about 7 or so bucks retail! other than that, the stepper motor is more than likely cactus, as mentioned in pervious posts! don't worry about resets and so on, if anybody has idling problems after a battery change etc, just remove the stepper motor, two 8mm head bolts, clean all the carbon build up off it! you will notice within seconds of doing it, the car will idle fine, and no need to let it idle 20 mins or so! that's what the dealer would do. if the car still stalls, then a new isc is more than likely needed. mitsu charges about 350 dollars, aftermarket about $150.
