Now that I've got your attention... I've painted my console silver!
Yes, I know it's been done to death but... it looks fantastic! And so easy, 100% DIY for a brilliant result! Cost me $50 all up, using good quality paint (not that Aussie Export crap).
I used Bain's console removal tutorial (http://members.optusnet.com.au/miltonf/car/mitsu/console/stereoremoval.htm) (very useful) to get it all apart. Gave everything a wipe with Wax/Grease Remover (Supercheap, $15), followed by about three coats of Touch Up Paint Plastic Primer ($17), allowing 20min between coats. Let it all dry for about 2 hours and gave it a quick sand with 400 then 1200 grit. Then came the Touch Up Paint - Metallic Silver ($17 again), did 2 very light coats of this followed by a couple heavier coats, again allowing about 20mins between coats.
Then put everything back together - let me tell you, it was a lot harder to get back together than it was to pull apart...
Also replaced my foglight covers (thanks to Meh) (the old ones had gaping holes in them where the previous owner installed some non-factory driving lights) and sprayed them silver to match my grille.
So this is my first mod for my car. What do you guys think?
