Hey guys,
Currently in the process of subbing up my fiances hatchback, need to know what the best arrangement would be for sound/bass.
Having it shoot straight back into the hatch, or angled upwards. The box allows me to do either way, so want to be certain before do it.
Enclosed is a dodgy pic of what i mean, should i go the first one or second one?
Cheers :D.

I have tried both in My brother mirage and they work about the same. Just make sure you push it right up against the rear seat and rear load it and you wont have a problem :D

a mate entered a SPL comp a while ago with his SSS pulsar, the guys running it were helpful with moving stuff around to try and get the highest readout, which was similar to the 2nd pic, apparently has something to do with the sound waves reflecting straight back to the sub, cancelling out at some frequencies? where the angled away prevents that happening

Yeh it'll be right up against the rear seat facing to the back, need to keep as much boot space as possible (for obvious reasons :)).

Obvious reasons like... you need room for shopping?? :bowrofl:
Angled should look better as well, I can really tell. My bro has a Cadence orange sub ( taking 450WRMS ) running in either a flat 1cuft sealed box ( like pic 1 ) or a 1.5cuft ported box angled like in pic 2 ( depends on how much room he needs for school etc ). The ported box is louder due to the more efficient enclosure but they are both loud. Made me very jealous when I had a Magna, not anymore. :D

You'd prob notice the difference more because it's a ported box vs sealed, not angled vs straight.

i had a 12" sub in my old excel hatchback, man did that sound good :D. all i had was 1 12" on a slight angle face up and the sub facing towards the back of the car hard up against the rear seat.
i had a 12" eclipse sub and a alipne mono block

Nah i think angled makes more sense and it's too late now as i've already mounted it :P. Had some problems with my MDF spacers for the fronts splitting so now i have to go buy some more grrr. Should be all complete by tomorrow night, might post pics if anyone's interested :P.
